I used to love this game, and honestly, if it wasn't for more than a year since their last update, I'd be excited to hear this.
I haven't played in months. Maybe I'll have to give it a go again.
I really thought Hawken was fun as hell but the complete silence from the dev made me uncomfortable about if the game was still going to be around.
Lately I've been playing a lot of Titanfall last titan standing mode, which in turn has made me really want to go back to Hawken. Pretty exciting that it's getting new patches and whatnot, maybe it'll be worth redownloading again.
It's being brought back by the same company that handled APB Reloaded, for what its worth.
I always really liked Hawken as a concept, but the gameplay never felt quite as satisfying as piloting mechs in Titanfall or Blacklight Retribution. I generally like games about mobility and vertical level design, but I'm not really big on arena shooters, and I really appreciated how mechs in TF/BLR delivered a very contrasting gameplay style to the normal footsoldier gameplay. Idk, to me I only get the sense I'm in a cockpit muffling gunfire if I was able to hear that gunfire unmuffled previously, stuff like that. Or maybe I just prefer my mechs to be lumbering engines of destruction and light and agile movements just counter that atmosphere I'm trying to create for myself. Not sure, Hawken's always seemed great on paper, but no matter how much they changed it, it never ever clicked for me even once, which is a shame. After that and looking at the user numbers, they'll re-evaluate how much they can commit to Hawken.
Sounds like the game was having some legal issues, causing the year long silence.
rip
I mean, APB was dead on arrival and that company kept it around at the least.
Been playing Hawken on and off since the alpha and it's been through some big changes, but it has to be one of the best games I've played. I really hope that they don't exploit it, because it's a great game and it deserves some love.
rip
Nope. They did an AMAZING job of turning APB into something fairly fun, playable, and not-dead.
I was actually very good at Hawken until the community died, it's good fun even with the starter mech (Which I wrecked faces with, and was my main until it was nerfed)
This game was pretty great with a not shabby payment model but for some reason the developers just disappeared off the face of the earth and silently it was left to die. Very unfair to all those that were invested or had spent money on the game.
Nope. They did an AMAZING job of turning APB into something fairly fun, playable, and not-dead.
I can't disagree more with this. Reloaded is one of the most toxic companies I've ever met. As someone who really loves APB, I can't just bear to see how they keep ruining it more and more. Oh. And not to mention that they've banned my account. Because apparently I've been selling my account, just to get it back from support to sell it again. According to them, it's impossible for the same person to log in on the same account from different countries over the span of 3-4 years. Losing an account that you spent a fair bit of money on over the incompetence of the staff is not fun. Now. I enjoy HAWKEN quite a bit. Now I'm not sure what will happen to this game, as there's a decent chance they will ruin this as well. I just hope that won't happen.

And seeing as Reloaded is apparently a subsidiary of them, THEY will most likely make the experience of this less enjoyable. Like how they broke Fallen Earth by slapping a limit on how long you can craft on free accounts. And the only way to fix it was to ruin crafting for free accounts further by reducing the number of active crafts from 20 to 1-3. In a crafting heavy game where items can take 24 real life hours or more to make.
