• US House of Representatives passes bill in first step to repeal Obamacare
The US House of Representatives has taken the first step toward demolishing Obamacare, approving a budget plan already passed by the Senate. The Republican measure allows the Senate to create new legislation and overcome any Democratic block. But lawmakers in both parties are objecting to the lack of any apparent replacement for the far-reaching law. The political showdown raises a big question mark over medical coverage for more than 20 million Americans. ... The measure instructs four committees on Capitol Hill to draft repeal legislation by 27 January.
The party's leadership aides voiced confidence that Friday's measure would pass, but many centrist Republicans said they were not sure how they would vote. There was even indecision among the House Freedom Caucus, a rump of hardline conservatives who have been among the most vocal critics of President Barack Obama's signature law. "We need to be voting for a replacement plan at the same time that we vote for repeal," said one of the group's members, Representative Mark Meadows.
maybe start working on that a little more first
Kill me.
Kill me.
That's too much of a risk. You might survive and just have serious injury not covered by health insurance.
Kill me.
they're trying
Absolutely disgusting. [editline]13th January 2017[/editline] Make America Sick Again!
Do they have a plan at all to replace it? If it is repealed, and they don't have a plan, what replaces it?
Do they have a plan at all to replace it? If it is repealed, and they don't have a plan, what replaces it?
nothing several republicans have claimed they have plans but no one has actually shown any replacement plan and most of the GOP higher-ups haven't even mentioned it
Any Republican FPers here wanna defend this?

this is so ironic that I thought it was a photoshop what
Bunch of fuckin cunts.
I'm legit curious to see the reactions of voters who only now realize ACA and Obamacare are the same thing
I'm legit curious to see the reactions of voters who only now realize ACA and Obamacare are the same thing
"I'm sure Trump has a plan, just wait and see!"
Thanks, I didn't like my dad's insurance anyway.
Does Trump have a replacement already? Curious to see what it is
Does Trump have a replacement already? Curious to see what it is
How many months and months did it take to hammer out the original bill? I find it hard to believe that they've got anything substantive.
Does Trump have a replacement already? Curious to see what it is
He'll tweet about private insurance that he loves, and suggests that you purchase a policy from them. [editline]13th January 2017[/editline]
How many months and months did it take to hammer out the original bill?
"I'm sure Trump has a plan, just wait and see!"
"He hasn't even taken office yet! Just give him a chance!"
"Unaffordable Care Act" Yeah I'm sure it was better before the act you stupid dick. I know you aren't one just yet but how about start acting like a president and not some internet shitposter. "People are going to suffer due to my party's actions but lol who cares check out this sick zing" I'll eat my words if the republicans actually come out with a better, more affordable plan but for now that isn't looking likely at all.
"He hasn't even taken office yet! Just give him a chance!"
Says increasingly sick Republican.
"He hasn't even taken office yet! Just give him a chance!"
You aren't allowed to express concern about anything until it becomes an active problem, if you express any negative thought about Trump's policies you're just fear mongering.
How many months and months did it take to hammer out the original bill? I find it hard to believe that they've got anything substantive.
I'm hoping its better than Obamacare, going to turn 26 this year so I need this shit. Repealing Obamacare and putting in a shitty replacement would be so dumb.
Any Republican FPers here wanna defend this?
Not sure if I'd personally refer to myself as republican, but whatever: The implementation of ACA is total bullshit. Either do nationalized single payer or don't, but don't fuck with insurance companies and force people to pay for a third party service they may or may not be able to afford. The ACA did absolutely nothing to make healthcare more "affordable", all it did was force people who already pay too much for their own healthcare, to pay even more out of pocket for everyone else's as well. Honestly I think it was designed to be garbage so that single payer would be more palatable because at this point just about anything is better than the current system for most working Americans. How exactly can they remove vital protections for up to 20 million people and somehow it doesn't even pass their minds the major potential for civil unrest this is going to cause.
I'm not very into politics and I've never understood this; what's the controversy around obamacare in a sentence or two?

My main problem is that they're repealing it with NO replacement simply to say "we repealed Obamacare", while being okay with 20 million people losing insurance.
How exactly can they remove vital protections for up to 20 million people and somehow it doesn't even pass their minds the major potential for civil unrest this is going to cause.
I'm gonna stop you right there. Americans as a large group have such an unreasonably huge bullshit complacency threshold that it would take something spectacularly astronomically fucked up to incite any major widespread unrest that could cause real change.
I'm not very into politics and I've never understood this; what's the controversy around obamacare in a sentence or two?
Went in as single payer, was butchered by partisan politics, became a Frankenstein of its former self, mixing private insurance with a "affordable" option. Regardless, it gave millions insurance they wouldn't have received otherwise.
I'm not very into politics and I've never understood this; what's the controversy around obamacare in a sentence or two?
Someone can go more in depth but as I understand it, Obamacare (ACA) Provides affordable healthcare for everyone They are getting rid of it so people have pay $20,000,000,000+ to get a hip replacement or something
Any Republican FPers here wanna defend this?
Well as previously pointed out, Obamacare was a half-measure that has truly failed. With even Bill Clinton (who I critique alot, but is the smartest guy on the democrat side) calling it "the craziest thing in the world". It should be repealed no matter what, but I am also looking for more specifics on what will replace it. Ofcourse, I am more optimistic than most here, but I don't think they are just going to repeal this with no actual plans. The nice part is Trump admitted there are some worthy parts to keep, so atleast it won't be one gigantic GOP slam.
