I googled everywhere and i couldn't find a definitive answer about this question. What is the performance difference while in crossfire with these two cards. I am goign to crossfire soon and im thinking of getting a 6950 DCII and unlocking it to a 6970 (since ive read around and it seems you still can). But just in case i cant unlock itm how much performance would i loose I already have a flashed 6950 (unlocked shaders and 6970 clocks)

It will be noticeable if you try to max metro 2033 at 2560x1600 as those extra few frames can mean a ton, but I think in most games you'll get framerates far above 60fps which means it won't make much of a difference, unless you're running a 120hz monitor. I wouldn't worry though because recent Newegg reviews says the DCII does unlock. If you want a card guaranteed to unlock the Sapphire dual fan 6950 comes shipped with the 6970 bios on the second bios, so you just have to flip a switch. If you get the DCII be careful when flashing, if you screw up you'll own nothing but a $300 brick, but the flashing isn't that difficult so I wouldn't worry. Good luck with your new GPU.
You can unbrick it by reflashing the stock BIOS back on with a PCI gpu
