I am looking for a 13" laptop with a web cam moderately good specs. I do not know the budget as of now but definitely keep it below $600(if possible). It will only have to do simple things like watch You Tube videos, Video chat, email, ect. Preferably from a well known, good company like Asus.
No netbooks please!
TL;DR:
Looking for 13" laptop
Made by good company
moderate specs
Good battery life
good size HDD around 500GB
I was looking at the:

UL80Vt
Is this a good choice?
Is size really an issue, or does it have to be ~13"?
well, my dad is going to be using it when he is on business trips, so ~13" is good, the one I posted in the OP is 14" but i don think he will mind.
also, lol'd

EDIT:
Well this has a 12.1'' screen
What is wrong with Asus? Their motherboards have been widely acclaimed in my town.

I should have posted in OP, sorry. Ive been hinting at getting him a netbook and he says he doesnt like the size, I think a 13" or 14" will do.

I don't like the design compared to the Asus one.

I don't exactly want to skimp out, so i might raise the bar, I would have to ask my mother how much she is willing to chip in.
looks < longevity
What do you have against Asus? If it is a valid reason I'll consider Dell, but I would be mostly fine with any other company (excluding HP, we have had terrible Customer service with them)
after the macbook pro, I think ASUS 13 inches are the best looking

I don't think so, besides even if they did appeal to me I would want to switch over to another OS. Especially if it is for an older person and will only really do small tasks
asus mobos have histories of not working properly; I can vouch for this. my buddy and I have seen a few in our time, and few have worked as they should. firmware problems are among the most prevalent. plus, my cousin's been working in IT for a while; hates em too. their customer service is a nightmare too.
that's the opposite what i've experienced. i have a premium asus board, the a7n8x-deluxe, it's a bit old but was awesome at the time. that has worked solidly and doesn't have any of the deeply plagued bulging capacitors seen on many other boards of its time. 3 of my friends have asrock mobo's and they're all solid. what were you guys looking at?
yeah firmware issues are fairly prevalent on certain ASUS boards but it's rarely a problem.
With my dads last laptop (ASUS), he had to get the motherboard replaced 3 times during 1 and a half years. The most recent motherboard replacement has died again a month after the warranty expired.
I'd go for that laptop, OP. I'm actually planning on buying it if nothing new comes out by the time I need a laptop for class.

I agree, I want one for the sexy looks, but I'd install Windows on it
What's with all the hate on asus? They have like the most reliable hardware, the surpassed apple a little bit ago in many surveys for hardware reliability.
ASUS is the best.
My brother has a similar laptop to the one in the OP and he loves it.
If your father isn't doing anything requiring a powerful graphics card, I would go for a Thinkpad T series, though its a 14.1" laptop. Fucking durable though.
My dad has an eeePC and I must admit they're great little things
