What is your budget and what gaming demands are you looking at from this computer? Also I'd avoid the AMD FX CPU's as the plague.
$600-$700 with a little leeway. http://www.amazon.com/Intel-i7-2700K-Quad-Core-Processor-Cache/dp/B005X64OA8/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1354246826&sr=8-6&keywords=intel+i7 Better? [editline]29th November 2012[/editline] And I would like to play more current games.
He'll mostly be using this for game design as well. We can't have it chugging while trying to run 3DsMax / ZBrush.

If you wanted upgrade it then I recommend the Hyper 212: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103099 - I noticed you added a Blu-Ray drive. I left it in there but if you want to get a normal DVD drive then you should get this instead: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827151256 [editline]30th November 2012[/editline]
He'll mostly be using this for game design as well. How would the video card I choose earlier work with an I7 core? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116502
wrong thread.
How will this Processor do with Gaming/3ds Max? http://www.microcenter.com/product/376491/Core_i7_2700K_35GHz_LGA_1155_Boxed_Processor
Yes, I could've told you that irl though.

For gaming: The i7 will perform exactly the same as the 100$ cheaper i5. For 3dsmax: The hyper threading in the i7 will allow for faster rendering times. But this is only really needed if you render alot. The i5 will run 3dsmax really well.

And What's the problem with Sandy Bridge?
And What's the problem with Sandy Bridge?
That its generally a tad slower and more power consuming than ivy bridge. http://www.tomshardware.com/charts/cpu-charts-2012/-26-3DS-Max-2012,3161.html The i7 you posted is only a tad faster than the sweetspot i5 (3570K) in 3dsmax.

I think he'll be fine with what he's looking at.
I'd take the highest end i7 Sandy CPU on 1155 over an Ivy i5. Performance difference on the jump from Sandy to Ivy wouldn't matter if we're comparing an i5 to an i7. [editline]9th December 2012[/editline] Especially since they're the same price.
What about my Power supply? Will take work for my needs?
Using the PSU you have in the OP, it'd become an IED on you.
Using the PSU you have in the OP, it'd become an IED on you.
Would you be able to suggest one that will work?
Would you be able to suggest one that will work?
GreenDolphin did: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151094

http://www.microcenter.com/product/388575/Core_i7_3770K_35GHz_LGA_1155_Processor If it's still on sale when I go home on break I will get this.
