So, on my pc i have connection problems, which normally results to a little bit of lag during a game. Which is copeable with. But on the xbox, it just disconnects me. So my dad has looked on the modem, and apparently there is too much noise going into the cables somewhere i think maybe possibly? Would this affect internet speeds? We're supposed to be on 20mb broadband but we get about 6/7mb. Any help? I wanna play my xbox lol.
"We're supposed to be on 20mb broadband but we get about 6/7mb." That's UP TO. You'll only receive your maximum speed if you're very close to your telephone exchange. Are you simply unable to connect to Xbox Live or does it drop out mid game?
Drops out alot midgame, im gonna go round with a spanner tightening up all the connections in a bit, it might help out. And surely we're not that far away from the exchange to get a measly 6mbit.

[editline]04:50PM[/editline] actually, before you do - plug your computer in as close as you can to the incoming line (no routers, splitters, etc) and run a speed test, see how fast it runs. If it's higher than 10Mb/s, you need to do some fixing/lessen the amount of splitters/routers you have. If it's lower, THEN call your ISP
forward your ports bro

Assuming you have cable internet, how many TVs are connected to cable? Check where the cable comes into the house and see how much it is split, and try to give the cable modem's it's own dedicated line that's split only once, and have your TVs share the other.

I'm not American however so I'm not entirely sure if it's true or not. If he's English however then that isn't relevant because an ISP seems to be able to advertise any speed they want here and provide you with as low as they want (For example me, up to 20Mbit plan, receiving 0.5Mbit) A speed of 6Mbit/s shouldn't cause lag during games but perhaps you should check the wiring or the router. Could be interference too.
