Thundercats... Ho! Lion-O and the warriors from Thundera will be back on television next year in a new animated series set to air on Cartoon Network in 2011. Produced by Warner Bros. Animation, the new "Thundercats" series will be the studio's first project to use anime-style animation, and promises to be a "21st century reimagining" of the classic '80s cartoon series. Along with the first promotional image from the series, WBA also sent over a brand new, ridiculously cool poster announcing the series' 2011 debut. According to the studio, the new series will appeal to both longtime fans and newcomers to the universe of Lion-O and his Thunderan brethren. Calling it "a sweeping tale combining swords and science and boasting ferocious battles with the highest of stakes," the studio offered some hints about what the new "Thundercats" series will involve, including "the grand origin story of Prince Lion-O’s ascension to the throne – and of those who would thwart his destiny at any cost." For the project, WBA will collaborate with noted Japanese animation Studio4°C (“The Animatrix,” “Gotham Knights”), who will update the characters' look for the series. "Thundercats" will be executive produced by Sam Register (“Teen Titans,” “Ben 10,” “Batman: The Brave and the Bold”), with Michael Jelenic (“Batman: The Brave and the Bold,” “Wonder Woman”) and Ethan Spaulding (“Avatar: The Last Airbender”) as producers.
Source. Here is the poster: This doesn't sound like a good idea to me, snarf.
This is going to be a nostalgia crusher. As in, make you wish they had never made such an abomination.
I don't know if good. :ohdear:
Didn't the thundercats writer go missing recently?
Anime style thundercats? Eep
Didn't the thundercats writer go missing recently?
He died.
Looks a bit too furry for my tastes.
NO. Just NO. Christ no. :suicide:
HOOOOOOooooooooo?.
Ugh. I am so sick of fucking nerds just disparaging anything that's modern in any way and just hoping for remakes and re-releases. It's stupid and will just lead to cultural stagnation.
Looks a bit too furry for my tastes.
They are _Awesome_, not furries :colbert: I can't wait to see Mumh-Ra again! Ancient spirits of evil... transform this decayed form to Mumm-Ra, the Ever-Living! HRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Fuck yes, I love thundercats! [editline]08:10PM[/editline] Did they ever find the lead writer, or whatever, who got kidnapped and there was an arm by his van?

Thundercats' original run was pretty good, and one of the defining shows of many a childhood, so trying the make it "edgier" & "modern" is exactly why it'll never amount to the first, and why so many show reboots (and even original shows) fail so hard.

Thunder, thunder. Thundercaaaaaaaats.
As long as they keep it 2D and don't fuck around with the styles too much, I might nostalgia.
Shouldn't this be in the 'Films and Television' Subforum? [editline]08:53PM[/editline] :colbert:
Executives: "Now that the original creator is dead........."
Anime-style? I don't like the sound of that... :ohdear:
It's gonna blow.
Thundercats was the shit. One of the few shows that my brother and I actually enjoyed together.
God damn anime in my american cartoons
in b4 Rule 34 :ohdear: Also, the article says "science", so YAY GO THUNDERCATS.
Maybe this time it won't have a 52 year old writer who got a 21 year old girl pregnant.
Thunder, THUNDER, THUNDERCATS, HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
in b4 Rule 34 :ohdear:
:10bux: Says you are too late by many, many years.
:10bux: Says you are too late by many, many years.
I meant new Rule 34. And there's only one way to prove that, brb google.
Looks a bit too furry for my tastes.
Killjoy
:10bux: Says you are too late by many, many years.
I owe you ten bucks.
