He's worried if people will appreciate this type of humor. He really needs some feedback right now, so tell me what you think about these two videos. I helped him with editing, intros n all that stuff. Tell your brother that he should definitely keep at it, reguardless of what opinions other people might have! When you make content, you gotta have passion behind it. And it's a lot harder to find that passion when you worry about catering to a more "popular" sense of humour. I guarantee that there are people out there who will find just as much enjoyment in these skits as you do. If you stick to doing this in the future, you'll be able to gauge which parts you found to be a success, and which parts didn't sit with you as strongly, and use that to learn and improve for future videos. Above all of this though, it is absolutely imperative that you don't give up now. A lot of people have trouble even making the first step of uploading anything... At all. It's only going to get easier for you from here on out. I wish you the best of luck with your new hobby! Also, keep us updated. We'd love to see how you progress.
I think that if he moved the camera further back (quite a bit farther, like late 20th century infomercial) the shot would drive the absurdist style humor much further. That's my thought on it anyway, I was imagining the camera being further in the first video and it made me giggle a little bit. Also try shorter videos perhaps? If the first one was half as long, it'd be more condensed. Long story short, I didn't laugh, but there's potential. The second one where he says "this is my gaming rig" and just slightly lifts the macbook made me grin like an idiot, so I definitely think he's a funny person. The fact that he got himself in front of a camera and put it out into the world means a lot already, but what's important to understand is that at the same time, it kind of isn't. Considering the nature of youtube (it's like shouting in a crowd etc), there's no reason not to relax and cut loose on camera, he should let his personality out more. I feel like there's a disconnect between him and "the script". Basically keep at it and feel free to experiment and most importantly, feel comfortable in front of the camera. There's potential for all kinds of hilarity here.
