Electronic Arts and Twentieth Century Fox have reached a deal to produce a movie based on Spore, with the director of the animated film "Ice Age" assigned to the project, Variety reports.
"I'm always looking for unique worlds to go to in animation," said the director, Chris Wedge. "From every perspective - visually, thematically and comedically - the world of 'Spore' provides the potential to put something truly original on the screen."
Variety says Patrick O'Brien, of Electronic Arts' EA Entertainment division, will executive produce the picture with Lucy Bradshaw, the vice president of Spore developer Maxis.
Spore joins a number of other EA titles that have reached deals with Hollwood, including The Sims (Fox); and Army of Two (Universal). Dante's Inferno, Dead Space and Mass Effect also have been set up for production.
Oh boy.
What the Christ...
oh goddamnit
How would a Spore movie work? :psyduck:
It'll end up like the game.
oh dear
Fucking HELL!
The Sims? I remember hearing about that long ago that's going to be very very horrid, Dead Space and Mass Effect...Hmmm, I don't think Mass effect needs a movie it's a huge movie on it's own.
Uh... that's cool I guess. Although I'm a bit confused as to how this will work :crossarms:
Wait what the fuck their making a movie on The Sims?????
snip
This is going to suck because it's EA, and due to the fact that video games (almost) never make good movies.
God damnit EA...
What the fuck are you going to make a spore movie about?
The whole point of the game is the player and his decisions, so.... WTF?

Pirated to hell and back?
Pirated to hell and back?
No, a complete failure. Except it'll be different because nobody has high expectations for this.
as if the game wasn't bad enough
It'll end up like the game.
But unlike the game, nobody's really looking forward to this. It would have to be REALLY bad if it's going to let us down, like the game.

The movie everyone is amped up to see, then it comes out to be a box office bust because someone recorded it in the theater and released it online but people figure out it wasn't good as expected?
Dick creatures will be fighting fucked up wanna be humans
Game based movies pretty much never work out. And with contents of Spore, I'm guessing that it's going to be a children's movie too...
Why make a movie about it?
A Spore... movie?
It'll probably have nothing to do with the actual game.
Spore?
Movie?
:wtc:
It'll be a childrens movie as was previously mentioned.
The EA strategy: What we can't sell in overhyped games, we sell in poorly produced movies.
Will Wright must be hysterically crying right about now.
You can only watch this movie 3 times, then you'll have call them before you can watch it again.
It'll be exactly like the game.
"WHAT THE FUCK, THEY'VE BEEN IN SPACE FOR THE PAST HOUR DOING THE SAME SHIT OVER AND OVER AGAIN, WHY WON'T THIS MOVIE END?"
Oh boy I can't wait to watch some sexy cell-eat-cell action
It'd probably stir shit in America if they used the evolution aspects of the game in the movie
Spore was a utterly failed attempt to try and show how evolution works. (The player adapts his creature to the environment it's in. (Well I did, I saw more of my friends make penis monsters.) )
So why not make a movie about how maybe some form of life started rather then about something that failed to do just that?
