Google confirmed on Friday that it had completed the acquisition of Boston Dynamics, an engineering company that has designed mobile research robots for the Pentagon. The company, based in Waltham, Mass., has gained an international reputation for machines that walk with an uncanny sense of balance and even — cheetahlike — run faster than the fastest humans.
Thats it, we're fucked.
Doomed. Game over.
I surrender.
"Don't be evil"
I hope they don't youtube them
The time has come. Google drones will compete for air superiority with the amazon drones.

Big Dogs reported having major issues with stability, google plus account required to avoid certain death
I can only imagine them looking creepy as hell when they run/walk.
My legit question is what the fuck does Google want with a DARPA contracted robotics company?

just a wild guess and a shot in the dark, but probably for a future project having something to do with biped robotics.

Anyone can be contracted by the government. Boston Dynamics is a private company. I'm guessing google wants to make commercial robotics. Why not by the guys that make the best robots for the government/military?

Obviously it's to achieve world domination!

First time I saw this I was half-expecting it to start dancing.
At least it's a good investor i can see google really pushing Boston Dynamics forward.

The only thing I could think of would be drone delivery à la Amazon
Time for mandatory Google+ intergration into robots.
The end times are here.
Now all that's left is for Elon Musk to join them.
Hnnngh
It's nigh impossible to land a job at Google but
I feel eerie motivation to really put myself into my robotics course even more, now.

It's not just Boston Dynamics. They acquired 7 robot companies just a few weeks ago.

Google makes self driving cars. Why wouldn't they want to?
So Google is officially a contract-whore for the United States Government.
So if I want to take over the world I have to use Google+ ?
Mark my words: This will lead to terminator machines that will hunt down people who haven't gotten a Google+ account. Refuse, and you will be terminated.
It's already happening!
"Do you want to use your google+ account on youtube?"
"No"
