Hello Facepunch I have considering upgrading my PC for awhile. I am going to admit I don't know much about upgrades and what not so I came to you guys to see if you could recommend any cheap and good upgrades. my Current specs (not that good) Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) D CPU 3.00GHz (2 CPUs), ~3.0GHz Memory: 2046MB RAM Card name: ATI Radeon HD 3600 Series Monitor: Generic PnP Monitor
what do you need the computer for??? the best, cheapest and the easiest way is to just buy a new computer, beacuse upgrading that is just stupid, unless the parts are for free
Basically all I use it for is gaming
Basically all I use it for is gaming
than just build your own one
start over with a new build, there's nothing really there you can just upgrade CPU will bottleneck any new graphics card, to get a new CPU you need a new MoBo, getting a new MoBo means new RAM, etc. salvage the HDD, optical drive, OS (unless it's XP) and maybe the case depending on what it is
Alright thanks, do you have any sites you could recommend for building PCs? (and please no Alienware) [editline]23rd November 2010[/editline] bumping for link
Somebody that's new to upgrading to PC's and doesn't want to buy Alienware? The world is now a better place.

Bumping for help
Thanks for all the help. [editline]24th November 2010[/editline] Do you guys think I could pull a power supply out of one of my prebuilts instead of buying a new one.
Sure, If it has the power to run it then it should be fine but most likely its a crappy one like the one in my 630 and can't come close to the rated power output.
Thanks for all the help. [editline]24th November 2010[/editline] Do you guys think I could pull a power supply out of one of my prebuilts instead of buying a new one.
probably not
Do you guys think I could reuse my current GPU (stated above) or should I look into a new one [editline]24th November 2010[/editline] Also I play games like arma II, HL2 (alot of valve games), rome/empire total war (alot of RTS game), stalker, and fallout [editline]24th November 2010[/editline]
\salvage the HDD,
Yeah the only problem with that is that my current HDD does not have enough memory for my needs

Okay thanks, but do you have any recomendations for a motherboard?
anything asus
I would really like to show you guys what I have so far but the problem is I am not at my home and I wont br untill saturday. So the computer I am useing does not have hamachi or anything for screen caping. I may list the names of some of the things I am not sure about. [editline]25th November 2010[/editline]
anything asus
Only problem I am seeing with them is that they are a bit pricy.
they're not expensive at all
Only problem I am seeing with them is that they are a bit pricy.
or gigabyte, but with motherboards you often get what you pay for, ram, cpu, and gpu's can be pushed, but motherboards are kinda picky since they supply power to those parts
Just post your budget and what you want to do with it in the PC building forum, they will make a build for you.
Okay thanks I will try posting on pc building thanks. [editline]25th November 2010[/editline]
they're not expensive at all
Yeah I had not looked at many of them when I posted that was my mistake
