After staying up all through the night with what we can only assume is his personal entourage of engineering superheroes, Elon Musk will provide a link to a more complete vision of his Hyperloop transportation system this afternoon.
Musk has been forthright about the double-edged sword that is the Hyperloop, having said in a Tesla earnings call August 8 that he shot himself in the foot by claiming that the future of transportation could be cheaper, faster, and more energy efficient than high-speed rail if we could, with the help of magnets, shoot ourselves through a tube system at speeds upward of 700 mph.
But Musk is not deterred by the mad genius of his idea. He has admitted that he cannot build it himself -- his commitments to SpaceX and Telsa are too demanding -- but he is committed to revolutionizing high-speed ground transportation. He put the date at August 12 for a complete design, and it looks like Musk will indeed deliver. He hasn't stated exactly where he will post the link to his outline, but it can be assumed he will tweet about it again.
EXCELLENT!
I hope it's a vacuum shuttle/train or something similar or even better
It's not a vacuum tube/shuttle. Elon has said this himself on a Google hangout.
Looking forward to hearing about it! This crazy, crazy, ambitious man, man.
i keep reading it as hyperpoop

I should hope not. I've already got one of those.

The Musk Cube, the future.

Oh neat, I want to see what this crazy man has thought up now.

First cars, now vacuums. A true entrepreneur.

make it happen
I cannot find a link for a live feed.
I cannot find a link for a live feed.
You want a live feed of a man posting a link on Twitter?
You want a live feed of a man posting a link on Twitter?
Touché.
In my defence, it was 0553 when I posted that.
Soooooooon.
Where do I watch this live?
He's late
0/10 won't invest
Elon is always late.
I think this is it?

hyperloop/10 would not wait
shoot ourselves through a tube system at speeds upward of 700 mph.
Hooooly fuck
800mph according to the new article.
I think this is it?
http://www.businessweek.com/articles/2013-08-12/revealed-elon-musk-explains-the-hyperloop
I dont think so, it mentions "Musk published a blog post detailing the Hyperloop on Monday. He will hold a press call later in the day to go over the details."
I love the fuck out of you, Elon, but I really doubt that this is going to be doable with the current state of the American transportation system and economy. I don't want it to fail, but he's sort of trying to swim up a waterfall
800mph according to the new article.
That's supersonic...
If the bow shock doesn't have much room to dissipate, it could cause a fair bit of damage to the pod.
Neither Tesla or SpaceX seemed doable at the start.
And now next year a Falcon 9 is flying every month.
Also, Tesla has got charging stations spreading all around the US, with no help from the government.

I'm not convinced that's his release. It wasn't posted on his Twitter and that's just an artists rendition. It doesn't seem to fit the bill to me. Going to wait until it's officially on his twitter.

Which is what he's been doing from the start with pretty much everything he's done. Paypal can't have been easy to get running, Tesla and SpaceX are still in the beginnings but showing much promise, even though both are something most people would laugh at if you said you were gonna try to make happen.
Much respect for Elon.
Official website just went up
