However, despite gamers convinced Hayter’s absence from the role is part of an elaborate ruse cooked up by Kojima Productions, the celebrated voice actor has confirmed this is sadly not the case. “I never signed any NDA,” Hayter told NerdReactor. “When you’re not in a game, it’s very difficult for them to get you to sign anything pertaining to it. It’s disappointing that fans still believe I’m gonna be in it, because I think that reduces the pressure that should be put on Konami and Kojima to bring me back. So I’ll say it again, I’m not in the game. In any way. “He’s a super nice guy and I respect him immensely. It just feels different from what we were doing before. But I’ve got nothing bad to say about the man. He’s a stellar Canadian. I respect him immensely.”
http://www.psu.com/a024194/David-Hayter-confirms-once-and-for-all-he-is-not-in-Metal-Gear-Solid-V--The-Phantom-Pain Haha what a story David, i still think you are in MGS, its all part of Kojima's grand plan.
Joakim Mogren has been confirmed to be one of the the biggest trolls in the gaming industry. So yeah, I'm not buying that. I mean, I'm not saying he'll play the main role as Venom, but I wouldn't be surprised if he'd at least have a minor role in MGS5.
obviously another trick bravo kojima
That sounds like something someone in MGS V would say
as a metal gear fan, i think people should just drop it. people keep harassing him and the only thing it will accomplish is an annoyed hayter or a sad hayter, and anybody who is a fan of him shouldn't want to cause him either of those emotions
They will only stop after MGS V is released.

People need to stop bothering the guy.
breaking news: kojima involved in horrible accident, has been hospitalized in full body cast. fans have sent cards to kojima commending his dedication to what they believe is an elaborate advertising stunt for kojima's upcoming video game, MGSV; in the game, the main protagonist enters a coma for several years. one fan said "no other developer would go to the lengths that kojima would to advertise his game." Seriously though people are so intent on assuming everything Kojima does is some kind of trick that they end up fooling themselves. Kojima doesn't need to do anything.
Quiet CONFIRMED for being Chico [t]http://a.pomf.se/vdhgfu.png[/t]
Don't stop believing if you can help it but the reality is pretty obvious. It actually probably really is true. There was some conversation in the Metal Gear thread recently about how his voice has changed over the years and I'd have to agree, unless he proved everyone otherwise, he can't pull off Snake like he used to. Same can be said for all of the original actors really. Just compare the original MGS 1 with the digital comic and it's like everyones' performance with their roles have really gone down hill over the years for some strange reason; the digital comic was pretty abysmal. Like the only actors that still managed to voice their characters well were Cam Clarke, Christopher Randolph, Debi, and Kim. As far as the next game goes if they go full circle with Outer Heaven and Zanzibar, I'd be freaking amazed if Hayter actually managed to pull off a 20 something year old Snake.
... But he can. Kojima wanted him to sound like that. Hayter does the MGS1 snake all the time.
I gotta say, hiring an extremely expensive professional actor like Keither Sutherland to voice Snake only to reveal he was just there as a ruse to cover up David Hayter actually being the voice of Snake seems like an extremely expensive, elaborate ruse that doesn't really benefit anyone (and especially not Konami's pockets). Like, suppose Hayter still is Snake, after all this; what's the point? Why would you go to such lengths to fool people, even having the main character voiced by a different actor for an entire game? This isn't some MGS2 style "only showcase half the game until release and shock everyone" style shit, this is over the top, completely insane bullshit. If it is a ruse it's quite possibly the most inane, pointless thing Kojima has ever done.

People would go fucking nuts over this. I've been rused far too many times to play into your tricks, Kojima. I STILL BELIEVE.
I dont think you factor in kojima being absolutely insane
This too don't count on hayter being out of the picture yet, but dont fucking harass hayter over it either. He's an actor, you'll never get your answer that way. We just gotta wait it out and hope. Keifer was great, but hayter is a necessary evil in MGS
hayter is now ocelot confirmed troy baker will now voice snake [editline]5th August 2014[/editline] kiefer has been recast as johnny
David is voicing Solid Snake in the last chapter of The Phantom Pain
Somewhere at the end of MGS V you will unlock "Hayter Mode" in which David is Snake again. Aw yish that totally will happen
I dont think you factor in kojima being absolutely insane
Kojima is actually Ocelot, right down to the ridiculous double-triple counter-crossing everyone with his tricks. I was going to say 'except he doesn't want to take down the internet or whatever' but he probably actually does.

But then in MGS2 and 3, he does these weird voice tone fluctuations "Where he talks like THIS..." "AFTER the end of World war TWO, the world was split into TWO. The east, and the WEST. THIS marked the beggining of the cold WAR." I guess thats what people call hammy?... And Cam Clarke is a GENIUS. I can't express enough how much I loved Liquid Snake. Perfect voice for him. [editline]5th August 2014[/editline]
David is voicing Solid Snake in the last chapter of The Phantom Pain
Actually, I'd say we should expect him to voice Solid Snake in an ending cutscene or in those ending shorts that show up in the end of the game. Perfect inclusion, without ever "showing up in the game", and could possibly tell us he'd be remaking MG1 and 2 in the 3D HD world.
Hideo has made such a ruse about this that i CANT believe it and i WONT believe it.
Avi Arad just brainwashed Kojimmer into casting some big Hollywood star. That's literally all it is.

I loved Hayter as solid snake but I hated him as big boss, because it basically undermines Big Boss' personality. I like Keifer Sutherland as Big Boss, he fits the type pretty well. People complaining about him sounding like he's constantly clenching his teeth need to remember that this isn't solid snake but another character, so it makes sense that he'd speak differently. Also I like Big boss as a bitter old man who's tired of everyone's shit and who constantly talks like he's about to flip out.

Kiefer sticks out compared to every single other VA, and its very obvious how expensive he is considering how silent he is.
Theres so many better fitting actors he could've gotten instead of Kiefer. Kiefer sticks out compared to every single other VA, and its very obvious how expensive he is considering how silent he is.
Christopher Walken as Snake would be incredible :v:
... But he can. Kojima wanted him to sound like that. Hayter does the MGS1 snake all the time.
No he doesn't, he mainly just does one unified "Snake" voice now. He's not a professional VA and so naturally his performance has changed over the years. Take the Digital Graphic Novel for example, this doesn't sound like MGS1 Snake and there's no reason why he shouldn't have gone for the same voice. Sure he can vary it up a little depending on what he's going for, but nowadays there's a lot more growl to it. In a recent interview (I've forgotten the source) he claimed back in the day the voice came from his chest, it was tiring and difficult to do. After some lessons he produced it from his throat, that's why he's so much more rumbly and growly nowadays. (I realise this post is similar to one I recently made in the MGS thread but it's the same point. If you've got any recent video/audio of him doing the MGS1 voice, please prove me wrong because I'd be happy to find he's more capable than I think.) Also one of the Konami staff clarified that his silence being due to expense was a joke, Konami's resources for Kojima seem to be limitless seeing as anything he touches sells like hotcakes. My main concern is for Sutherland's lack of knowledge when it comes down to the series and games in general. He's not a gamer, he knows MGS is hot shit but I don't think he understands or cares for the character as well as he should. So far he's basically replicated his performance as Jack Bauer instead of acting as a separate character, and don't get me started on his pointless shlurring. I have faith he can do better, but I get the feeling his portrayal of Big Boss will be up and down.

Yes BB/Naked Snake and Solid Snake are two very different characters, but in game it does not feel like that in the slightest. They're functionally identical and that's whats fantastic about it, you're always just playing -Snake-. The voice actor split just completely throws you out of the feeling of "Ok this is MGS and I'm fuckin' snake" and that sucks. Keifer is great, and he does a fantastic Big Boss, but he does not do Snake.

fuck the Hayters
Christopher Walken as Snake would be incredible :v:
i hid this uncomfortable box of cigarettes up my ass for two years
But he's far more vocal, even having multiple new tapes, in the japanese version?
True, but that could be due to factors such as his other commitments (24, basically). Regardless, if an actor isn't fully available for a project I don't think he's a good choice of an actor.
