He told a rally in Indiana that China was responsible for "the greatest theft in the history of the world". Mr Trump, a billionaire businessman, has long accused China of manipulating its currency to make its exports more competitive globally. This, he says, has badly damaged US businesses and workers. "We can't continue to allow China to rape our country, and that's what we're doing," he told the campaign rally on Sunday. "We're going to turn it around, and we have the cards, don't forget it," he added. "We have a lot of power with China."
Doesn't he accuse every country of rape? Or was that about Mexico? I forgot.
using this type of language is just asking for them to want to cancel trade with the US
"I love China".
using this type of language is just asking for them to want to cancel trade with the US
Your joking right? They benefit far too much with us to damage trade relations over harsh words.
using this type of language is just asking for them to want to cancel trade with the US
Not really, they probably will stay out of it, but if they did it'd just be a strongly worded letter considering their current manufacturing bust they're experiencing
For a guy who wants to bang his daughter, he sure is obsessed with rape. It's kind of worrying.
So we based basically the entire world production in repetitive low skilled tasks in China for the last what... 40 years because it's incredibly cheap and the people were super poor and took our money that was worth fortunes to them essentally exploiting the imbalance of trade and economics but now that the Chinese say "we can use your system too" it's "rape"?
he'll make china pay for it too
Jesus, I can't believe we might see the return of heavy protectionism.
He sounds like Tumblr, which is oddly ironic
"now i mean i say China is, no, CHINA is the BEST country other than America!"
If trump keeps this shit up, hes going to have to move his clothing line to a sweatshop somewhere else in the south eastern pacific.
Trump Denounces China telling the world that they aren't to be trusted!!
Biggest theft? I thought that belonged to bait and switching gold for thin air?
using this type of language is just asking for them to want to cancel trade with the US
They're not going to cut one of their most important trade relations over the ill-conceived comments of a presidential candidate hopeful. Even if he gets the presidency, his powers to shit on China are limited; not least by Congress, advisers (or perhaps handlers would be more appropriate), and almost the entirety of the US business community.
Jesus, I can't believe we might see the return of heavy protectionism.
whenever a country enacts protectionism it's a sign that it's dying considering that somebody like trump might become president, i am inclined to think that this is entirely within the realm of possibility
See as the president of the United states, you kind of have to have some kind of decency to what you say. It's not even trumps political views that drive me away from him but the fact that he seems entirely incapable of acting like a professional whatsoever. A professional man does not throw around the word rape like a middleschooler

This didn't have anything to do with our labor exodus. The Chinese government has the power to manipulate their currency so as to attract investment and cheapen their exports. It's a shady, awful thing for China to be doing but nobody talks about it because it usually makes them rich. In our case, we have a several billion dollar deficit in all of our trade deals. It doesn't matter what he says at this point; he has the nomination clinched. Watch him change his tune when the general comes up.
Did you read the article? This didn't have anything to do with our labor exodus. The Chinese government has the power to manipulate their currency so as to attract investment and cheapen their exports.
this only works to a degree. the thing about markets is that you can control some of them all of the time or all of them some of the time, but you can't control all of them all the time. china has tried to make her exports more competitive by devaluing her currency, this is true, but it's had severe repercussions in other areas of the chinese economy we shouldn't be so quick to ignore. the chinese have ended up with a seriously unbalanced debt-ridden economy that has ridden upon the back of imported western technology/techniques and cheap labour (the returns from which have diminished rapidly). china can no longer sustain what you're describing anymore because usually it results in money flowing out of china into other countries (devaluing isn't the best of ideas if you want to transition into a high-income services economy). a lot of the markets that china once captured are now moving to southeast asia where the advantages to businesses are greater. also there's the fact that the working-age population in china is going to start shrinking rapidly from now on. america doesn't have anything to fear from china because the chinese economy is going to undergo a serious stagnation and/or decline for the next few decades once we hit the 2020 elections
This could actually be something he's quite knowledgeable about, considering his status.
Why doesn't anyone ever talk about the pollution that's currently raping China? If you ask me they deserve the better trade deal because all the shit they create for us is destroying their environment. They literally have smog days where kids can't even go to school because the air outside is too toxic to breath..... And he wants to bring the businesses that are creating all that pollution back over here to rape our environment as well? That shits just ridiculous, he doesn't even know what the EPA is, he called it the department of environmental and he want's to defund it because apparently their rules that protect our planet are putting too many restrictions on businesses...
using this type of language is just asking for them to want to cancel trade with the US
Why would china do that? They have control of the world market and this is a very strong position for them.
Don't be an idiot, it's polluted there because they've got no safety standards (one of the many things they do to artificially tank prices) Boo hoo poor China FUCKED itself up
*they had no safety standards Lol I'm an idiot because I called out a real problem that's going to become our own. Did you not read the second part of that post? They didn't have any safety standards because they were only concerned with making the most amount of profits they could, just like Trump who's trying to make America a dump again. Last year they realized how much they fucked up and put into place their own environmental protection laws to start combating the mess they made for themselves. Now they have an uphill battle that's going to take decades and cost trillions of dollars to reverse the damage that's been done. Yah, it's their fault it happened but at least they realize how much of a problem it is and they're doing something about it. We have someone running for president who's so unconcerned with climate change that he couldn't even name the agency that was created to prevent it by protecting our environment. He actually believes that we need to get rid of it because it's preventing businesses from making more profit. So while we're over here destroying ourselves, they're going to be creating a more prosperous future for themselves.... Come on dude, don't be an idiot.
Reminded immediately of: I really don't know what would happen if Trump won, how many world leaders would actually want to co-operate with them?
