Do you think, after the prolonged launch stumbles of Battlefield and SimCity and CoD: Ghosts, they’re finally listening?
Uhh, no? Maybe because CoD Ghosts is not published by EA?
Wait what, am I seeing things right?
An actual beta, done right?
“The Titanfall beta is not final code and represents a small slice of the game’s content. Testing the game before release helps us create a better final product for our fans.”
When is release? 11th of March? So that leaves less than 4 weeks from the time the closed beta STARTS to when copies have to be on the shelves for purchase, which leaves 2 weeks at the very very best from when the beta starts to finalize and bugstomp.
I'm sensing another BF4, did they not learn that 25 days between the start of a Closed Beta to On the Shelf is not adequate time? This is the exact same scheduling and it's piss poor, it's the worst, and it reeks of EA pressure even though they said they weren't

No, a proper beta is a free one done months before launch.

It's not only a different and smaller game but also a different and smaller developer.
And since it's more like an open beta I guess it's mainly a stress test for the servers.
Also, the beta only goes for like 3 days.

So it's a Demo then...

A server test/demo, I guess you could call it.

This is a free beta, and the game is releasing in a month soo.

Also, the probably have had a beta for internal testers or outsourced. This is an open beta for the fans.

There's a difference between a consumer beta and beta development. Titanfall has been in beta for months, tons of people in house, Microsoft QA teams, EA QA teams, contracted/freelance QA staff (what I use to be in the gaming industry post Microsoft) all testing this game. But at the same time there's things all those teams miss because sometimes bugs, exploits, ect. Do not surface until the game is in the hands of millions of people. This upcoming beta consumer will tackle many of those problems.

That NOT the case here. Titanfall did not only spend 4 years in development (unlike BF4) Titanfall is running on the Source Engine, a very stable engine unlike FB3. EA has no controlling interest in the product or the devs making it, so they work on their own time. Again, there's a big difference between internal and consumer betas. This game is polished and very stable already, this consumer beta is gonna tackle the small stuff that doesn't really effect the quality of the game and things that didn't exist until they get the public get their hands on it.
Damnit, I'm not going to be able to upgrade in time for the beta. :(

What are your specs? The game is using the source engine so min reqs are pretty basic.
OS: 64-bit Windows 7, 8, 8.1
CPU: AMD Athlon X2 2.8 GHz or Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz
Memory: 4 GB RAM
Video: 512 MB VRAM, Radeon HD 4770 or GeForce 8800GT
I hope I get in.
My origin account has quite a few games, hopefully that boosts the chances.
