I'm selling an old disk and it needs to be 100% clean.
Nuke it. [editline]03:45AM[/editline] Format 3 times [editline]03:47AM[/editline] In what state are you giving him the drive? Empty or with OS?
Format 3 times
Won't help, it will overwrite the same data all over again, but not the whole harddrive. Also reading data from harddrives that has been overwritten once is purely theoretical - overwriting it with zeroes one time is enough.
Get a file shredder and shred the whole disk.
Whats with the destroy it crap, he wants to sell it.

I know zDelete used to be a good one for permanent deleting, it overwritten files as it deleted them with z's originally
Use this to format the old hard drive: http://www.dban.org/ Make sure you have absolutely no shit on your drive that you need to keep, this will nuke your drive
