HARNEY COUNTY, Ore. — KATU News has learned the leader of the armed occupation at Malheur Wildlife Refuge has been arrested, along with three other individuals Tuesday evening.
Sources tell KATU News there was some sort of engagement involving shots fired as the militia group was on its way to a meeting in John Day.
Highway 395 is closed between Burns and John Day.

The details of the arrest have not yet been released, but officials say there are injuries in the area.
Hopefully no one is killed during or as a result of this.

According to this source, somebody is dead: http://katu.com/news/local/leader-of-oregon-occupation-ammon-bundy-three-others-arrested
one person is dead.
I can understand if you wanna protest something, and even carry a firearm. but shooting anybody on either side isn't going to convince either side of wrongdoing, what are these guys even doing, or maybe the police shot first?

No one knows yet, have to wait for them to release information.
Now the concern is that depending on who was killed and or how this went down, it could spark more militia group copycats, which certainly won't help anything at this point.
Finally.

I'm from oregon so this whole situation is very close to home, glad to see the FBI got the balls to take these fuckers down
If the FBI fired the first shots, all I can say is that they really have kicked something they shouldn't have.
Seriously, this is one of those situations where its better to wait it out.
person shot and killed was a suspect. not law enforcement. Injuried person was also not law enforcemnt.

Whelp, here we go..
So from what I understand, FBI tried to muscle it, both parties went retard-mode and shot at each other.
Fantastic. Learning nothing from previous fuck ups, I see!
They were moving, so the FBI took the opportunity to arrest them away from the larger group. It sounds like a solid plan.

Pretty certain the FBI learnt after Waco.
I assume one of the ranchers started waving a gun around when he shouldn't have and that's probably what sparked the shootout. Police are trained to stop deadly threats, thing is a lot of people won't see it that way.
Person who was killed was Tarp Man aka LaVoy Finicum. He told a reporter in a interview that he rather die than be arrested a few weeks ago.

Imagine if the ranchers had done all the exact same stuff but also on day one they pledged allegiance to the great Islamic State and to his holiness Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi

If they had done that then it's highly unlikely they would have sat in a small building for weeks, doing nothing of consequence. And the response from law enforcement would have been swift because it's well known what the Islamic State has done in the past and plan to do in the future. It's not even clear what the hell these weirdos in the woods were trying to accomplish in the first place.
Sorry, your equivalence game doesn't really pan out here.
from what ive read it looks like they didn't storm the place, they got them while they were driving around outside the place
so don't get your hopes up that its over yet, they haven't said they took the wildlife offices back yet

uh no they started smashing native american artifacts housed in the building, they paved a road through the wildlife sanctuary, went around town in stolen trucks as well as smashing up the buildings themselves. they haven't been sitting on their ass

well then they went over to a neighboring rancher and cut down his fences releasing his cattle into the reserve, against his wishes, in addition to the other stuff they've done like smashing native american artifacts, and the road i posted above
i do hope this is a wakeup call for the far right, because this town is basically the NRA's poster child, and its one of the reddest counties in the country and now they have gotten a taste of what they've been preaching

Oooooh look out, they paved a road! Almost as bad as the Islamic State killing thousands of people and destabilizing multiple countries with large armies!
Honestly, that road ain't half bad. I wish CDOT could pave a road that nice...

they haven't deliberately smashed any artifacts or smashed up any buildings. the most they've done is broke a fence, pave the road, and taken down some cameras

no but they've hardly been peaceful or sitting on their ass
From what im hearing the Oregon militia in their planning stages got to discussion of can they do this not should they do it or need to do it.
It really sounds like they have just pissed everyone off they possibly could.
How many does that leave at the compound? With one of the Bundy's being arrested it might be enough to get the rest to give up, but now that a mans dead they might just dig in further. This could also increase tensions with those who remain, they'll never believe what really happened there (whatever that may be) and will probably assume the cops shot first.
