Getting to Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines to work on Windows 7 64 bit

I'm well aware that this game has issues with 4GB+ RAM, 64 bit OSs and Multi-core CPUs. But despite this, people have gotten it to run on Windows 7 with those parameters.
I've been trying to get the game to run for the past two days without such luck. I've tried using the VTMB Unofficial Patch 7.something, the True Gold Patch and messing with resolution stuff and compatibility modifications. Nothing has made it work.
My exact issue(s) are as follows:
Without a patch or setting the .exe to run in Windows XP SP2 mode I get an error saying "Available memory is lower than 15mb!!!". But with the patch and with running in compatibility mode I am able to launch the game and see the company splash stuff but there is no sound. It isn't until AFTER the Troika splash ends that it goes to a black screen (where the frames are monitorable, thanks to FRAPS) and windows informs me that the game has crashed.
I know this is a lot of info, but I do need help. It's a really good game and I wanna play it again. So, to anyone who has gotten the game to run in Windows 7 64 bit, with 4GB+ RAM and with a multi-core CPU; Your help is appreciated.
To be honest if I remember correctly the game still runs fine with that available memory is lower than 15mb message. At least if I recall.
Only option I have after that message appears is Okay and it closes the game.

I just tried copying the content to a default install directory, installing the VTMB Unofficial Patch, Copying it back over and overwriting the old steam directory and then launching it.
Same thing.
