Do you want to learn an instrument? Trying to get better at guitar, bass, drums, vocals, or piano? If so, look no further! For the past two years I've been going to a camp called National Guitar Workshop. They offer five week-long sessions over the course of each summer. When I say the faculty there are top notch, I really mean it. Example of some of the teachers there:

These are just some of the AMAZING people that are at the camp. There's a faculty list on the website http://www.guitarworkshop.com/. They offer something for everyone, whether it be blues, jazz, rock, funk, shredding, as well as core classes available for people who just started yesterday to people who have been playing for years.
One of the best things is the guest artists; they always have the best for it. This year I saw Paul Gilbert, last year Steve Bailey and the John Scoffield Trio. They've also had Michael Angelo Battio, Herman Li (lulz), Steve Vai, Buckethead, Buddy Guy, and dozens of other world class performers.
And if anyone is wondering, I don't work for the camp, I'm not getting paid for this or anything, I just really think they're the best.
So... You camp there, and they give guitar lessons? Why would you go and camp there?
Um...a summer camp isn't necessarily camping...the campus I was at (they have multiple) was at SUNY Purchase. Staying in dorms and such.
I take it the Purchase campus is way upstate?
Probably can't go then. Ah well...
There are multiple campuses...this year it was SUNY Purchase (near White Plains) LA, Austin, Chicago, and Mclean, VA.
I have just returned from National Guitar Workshop in Purchase as well, and what can I say. It was one of the best musical experiences I've ever had. It's one of the coolest feelings ever to be walking around, eating with, and learning from world-class musicians. Hell, we're even on first name basis with them! I've learned more than I ever had before. Although there are a lot of asshole kids that go there (that are SO METAL!!!!1!1), all of the ridiculously insane teachers make it worth it. Plus, the insane guest artists definitely help!
