Theres one gun for each different type at rank 1.
You unlock the rest as you progress.
I already own this game on PC and I can say without a god damn doubt in my mind that Bad Company 2 kicks the living hell out of it on the PC front.
When I seen this I thought I had warped into an alternate reality. Then I thought even in alternate realities IW would be too cheap to do this so can someone explain to me what this magic is?

Yeah, but it doesn't really matter. They give you all the good guns after like, 4 minutes of playing. As long as you can run, gun, and knife you'll do fine.

Even though it's hardly comparable, as a multiplayer experience it's way better than MW2.
