A family has had an emotional reunion with their cat six years after it left the house.
Jo and Ade Haigh had all but given up on their black and white pet, Charlie, who was nine when he left the house in Fareham, Hampshire, in 2006.
However, Mrs Haigh spotted the cat when she was out walking and was able to verify that it was Charlie thanks to a microchip that had been fitted to him.

yay
microchipping ftw
She looks happy.
Wouldn't the cat be completely detached from the owner at that point...?
Wish my cat was alive again.
In cat years, that's 40 years

Cats do have a long term memory y'know.
I thought cats were at least a little bit like dogs, in the way that they grow attached to you? Apparently this cat didn't.

Cats are cold-hearted and ruthless. Don't let their cuddly appearance fool you.

Oh yeah, I forgot
Emotional reunion? It looks like her cat just said "Meh...ow"
Also, she saw him while she was out walking around where she used to live but had since moved away. This tells me that the cat needed his space, he never really 'left', he simply made sure he wasn't where she was.
my cats name is charlie

Cats have widely varying personalities. They're not all bitchy and clawing-everything-that-comes-near-them. My cat really likes people and will follow you around and quickly jump up on your lap and stuff.
How does this become news? Did she call up the news station and say "I have a heart warming story about me having lost my cat 6 years ago and just recently being reunited!".
Whoever deals with those types of calls must have had a slow news day or something if that was worthy of a story.
My friends Norwegian Forest Cat fucking LOVES attention.
So much it'll sometimes crawl up one of your pants leg to gain your attention, if meowing loudly and doing all kinds of stuff in-front of you didn't do the trick.
Otherwise than that (and the few times it's bought partially dead birds and once it came with A FUCKING FULLGROWN SEAGULL) it's calm & cuddly and doesn't cause any trouble.

Aw.
I love Shitter (it's what i call my cat because he shits anywhere anytime)
If only my cat came back to me :C
My fat cat has been gone for 11 months. Longest he've been gone was 2 months.
I guess there's no chance for him to come back?
My cat Graham once put dirty pawprints all over my bed. I had a go at him and he just fell asleep.
My cat plays with peoples faces when they sleep.
When my cat does a poo its always a corker that stinks the house out
My youngest and most social cat have been missing for well over two years now
Probably did an overdote.
My cat is utterly terrified of everything and consequently hardly ever goes further than my garden. Don't think she's ever been out of the house for more than 12 hours, and that was when she got locked in next door's garage.

Depends on the cat I guess.
My cat lived with my parents when I moved out for about 2 years. I don't see my parents that often but when I did, at first it didn't seem as he even recognized me or didn't care. But he just needed some time apparently. After an hour or two of me being there he came to me being overly cuddly. It's like he's pretending not to care but eventually can't do it anymore, or he's just slow..? (he was an old cat)
There's been this other cat who came into my apartment and just stayed here without me noticing because I had windows and doors open due to heat. It didn't really bother me (ok I admit, there was food involved but I wasn't the only one handing out food!) but I thought it probably bothered the owners so I found out who owned him by reading a phone number around his neck band thing. They told me he's been away for a good while and it's not the first time he's like that. They came here and got him but he just came back eventually..
He was a fat cat though and they seem to stay wherever there's food. I brought my own cat shortly after and he stopped coming back since then due to cat fight stuff.
I guess the law of nature is right even in this case; cats just don't give a fuck.
