• Why do game companies hate co-op?

Take a game like Serious Sam. In the original game there was co-op. Then when they came out with Serious Sam HD, they took co-op away from the game. At first I thought that some of the game companies were just being too lazy to put co-op in the games. However I don't see how it would be that complex to have co-op in any game.

You're joking right? Most big releases these days have some sort of ham fisted co-op in some form or another.
What? Companies don't hate coop. What the hell are you talking about? I mean have you seen all the triple-A games that are coming out with coop these days? If you don't here's a small list that I made out of memory: Left 4 Dead 1+2, Borderlands 1+2, PAYDAY: The heist, Dungeon Defenders and Saint's row 1+2+3. All recent high budget games. I really would like to know where this myth that coop is getting abandoned by devs comes from because it's really not true. There's even a site that is that catalogs coop games and its pretty massive. http://www.co-optimus.com
Even call of duty has coop.
They put online coop in a higher priority than local coop because its a better business opportunity. I'm sure if they had more time they would add it to their game, but live coop usually takes priority.
They love it so much they put into a horror game. HA HA HA HAHAHAHAHhahaahhaaa... [sp] ;_; [/sp]
My bad, I meant LAN co-op with no internet connection. I should have been more clear about that.

LAN Co-op on the internet. Yup every game should have that.
I think he meant that there was an absence of SINGEPLAYER Co-Op, which is kind of true. The reason for that is the fact that a company makes more money when two people both have to buy the game to play Multiplayer Co-Op, where as someone could share the game on Co-Op with a friend and therefore the friend wouldn't even have to purchase a copy, thus causing the corporation to lose money.
