It'll fit in nicely with all the other half baked crap google like to push with that bar!
I hope this educates my friends and family that the iPad is by no means the only tablet out there.
And by no means the thing they should be throwing their money at.

If they were worth getting wouldn't that naturally occur?
Surely the iPad is the most popular tablet because it's the best, most universally accessible tablet - rather than as a result of Apple fever?
So surely people should be working at making the Android tablets more accessible, have the best battery life, the best screen resolution, the best UI, the best responsiveness and the best software - rather than trying to talk family members into buying a worse product just because you don't like Apple?
I never saw the hate with the iPad, I know they're really expensive and their 'sequels' are only slight improvements, but they're still nifty.
And locked down, that's a downside but not everyone wants to configure x y and z just to do something shit that the average user couldn't give a fuck about.
I never understand the hurt about being locked down. My microwave is locked down too - but it still does everything I want it to.
If your main USP is that you can remove and reinstall a custom ROM you're targeting a very small market.
They're not really that locked down when you jailbreak. It's more down to hardware quality, OS preference etc. At the end of the day, try the product put before you buy

I'm not saying that iPads aren't worth getting for everyone, but they aren't for my family. My brother complained a lot about using iTunes, as do some of my friends. They've said they dislike a lot of UI elements too. These are problems I've never had with my £50 Android phone, my brother recently switched to a Samsung Galaxy phone and said he loves it compared to his old iPhone.
I'm not sure if these same differences apply to tablets, but if they do, I think my family would be better of on Android. Most of these things are subjective so I'm not trying to discredit Apple's products.

I think you are stretching that analogy just a little too far, a microwave has one function, you only want one function out of a microwave.
A tablet should be a versatile computing device that can do whatever you want. Android is a little closer to a desktop computer experience than well.... an iPad.
The only thing I can compare it too in regards to being locked down is an old Motorola V3, sure you can set your wallpaper and install whatever (J2ME) apps you want. But other than that what else can you effect change on to make it suit you better?

Apple has a "one size fits all" mentality, their products fit the average user and noone but.

Heh garry, you never change
I really see no problem with apple. I'd take an apple device over an Android device any day.
Android is good for us tech savvy
But sometimes it's a hassle and in those times I'd far prefer an iPhone (or iPad since my Android device is a tablet)
The only downside about Apple is that the real functionality comes from the app store, and apps aren't always reliable. above that, I can't run Ubuntu on my iPod for when I need a real DE
I would rather have my android phone than my iphone. I own both and I never use my iphone really.
Why this is why. I can play gta and minecraft much easier on this (except mine is white not black)
