I want that controller.
I don't even know if its shit or not. I just want it.
I can't wait to get an advantage in FPS games with the steam controller.
The controller looks cool and I want to use it but I can't see a reason when I already have a PS4 controller and several 360 controllers
surely none of the steambox producers actually expect people to pay that much, right?

There's a reason it's being bundled with steam machines, it's supposed to be used on a couch away from a mouse+keyboard. If you only ever play PC games at your desk you have no need for one.
Dying Light with VR is going to be a wild ride, if it'll even get VR support.
If by wild ride you mean cleaning vomit out of your carpet.
The controller looks cool and I want to use it but I can't see a reason when I already have a PS4 controller and several 360 controllers
it natively emulates a keyboard and mouse for games that do not have built in controller support
PC gaming is expanding and so is my dong
Really though, the only thing I want out of these is the VR headset assuming I can use it with my glasses on
I'll take everything bar the Steam Machine thanks Valve.

Not everyone has weak stomaches like you guys. I have experienced free fall, with tunnel vision, without barfing. I actually never really get motion sickness. When I was younger and people took me to theme parks I could easily eat fast food like a pig, get up in the wildest rollercoasters and still not barf.
What is it with people and motion sickness? I only ever get it sitting in the back of a car or bus reading a book when a big part of my field of view was outside of the vehicle, actually moving.
Never got sick from flying, or sailing, or just sitting in a car and not doing stuff like reading a book or playing handheld games.
If this is going to be affordable for me, I am going to have the time of my life playing all those games where you can jump around and shit, going to take me right back to running around in forested hills climbing trees and jumping around and shit, before my back turned to shit.

It isn't motion sickness, it's the contradiction of running and jumping in game while you're just sitting in a chair. For the majority of people that's jarring and uncomfortable.

e: motion sickness in games is a pretty wide and common category from FOV perception to That One Playtester In Half Life Two Who Couldn't Handle The Airboat

I guess what I should have said is it's the reverse of the commonly perceived definition. It seems like it's much easier to get sick from thinking you should feel movement when you aren't.
I'm excited to buy that controller. Never used a controller for PC gaming, admittedly. Just wasn't ever in the budget. Going to pick one up for sure and contemplate on the Steam link idea.
Wii U is about the only worthwhile console right now in my experiences thanks to its innovative controls and their potential, mostly free internet services, friendly community, fun games and user friendly interface, yet it sells worse than both its competitors, which both don't bring much anything truly new to the market aside from more processing power.
Can't wait to play the 15 games that are supported on steamos.

The alienware alpha is pretty good though for a budget PC/console. The fact that it runs windows makes it even better.

You mean the entire list of mostly triple A games here that is around 40-50?
These are either on SteamOS right now or are coming to it
http://store.steampowered.com/sale/steamos_sale
Along with the fact that SteamOS is Linux and so you can play any Linux game? Which means exactly 1838 results on the store page.
Nevermind that you will more than likely be able to install another OS or dual-boot it, so I can have SteamOS (for whatever purpose) and Windows at the same time.

Compared to the 10,000+ store items I can get on windows I think linux right now is a waste of resources for developers.

Well that, I honestly can't really debate for or against, as I was simply trying to show the situation wasn't that bad.
Now why people should or shouldn't develop for Linux, that is a whole new ball game honestly. The only thing I could say is that monopolies aren't a good thing, but that is about as far as I'm getting here.

I agree, I'm just confused as to why valve would spend the resources pushing for linux when that isn't where the money is.
It seems I'm the only one excited for the Steam Link. I've been waiting for a cheap streaming solution.

I'm definitely interested in it myself. If it allowed for complete PC streaming, I'd buy it in an instant but as it stands it's rather simple. Still nice to be able to game from your bed or couch.
Give me the VR headset, fuck everything else.
Well I guess steam link might be alright too

It technically can if you minimize the game.
But then you need proper peripherals to control the rest of the computer
I'll definately be looking out for that Steam Link. I would like to stream my desktop to my TV easily while still retaining high quality
I agree, I'm just confused as to why valve would spend the resources pushing for linux when that isn't where the money is.
Because they're trying to push the money in that direction. We won't know if it will work until it's worked.

"Boy, I can't wait to play absolutely nothing on Linux!"
"But the library is expanding!"
"Yeah, but the other library is bigger! What a waste!"
it's an endless cycle you're perpetuating
Compared to the 10,000+ store items I can get on windows I think linux right now is a waste of resources for developers.
While Linux doesn't really interest me at all, I'm just gonna say that a lot of people also said that about Windows vs. DOS.
While Linux doesn't really interest me at all, I'm just gonna say that a lot of people also said that about Windows vs. DOS.
Interestingly enough, porting Doom to Windows 95, so that people would ditch DOS, is what got Gaben into gaming industry. And now Valve is doing all they can to fight Microsoft with SteamOS and glNext/Vulkan, yet they owe Microsoft and Windows a great deal of their success.

valve really has been about getting in early. steam had digital distribution when people still mainly bought PC games in stores, and now it is the leader in pc games sales period. them jumping in with linux is not unprecedented
