Quick question. This is an Acer 5734 laptop. My dad is considering it since it is going for $328 (£209.66) at Walmart. He will mostly use it for e-mail, basic web browsing, and Word documentation. He doesn't buy laptops online, otherwise I'd recommend him something off of eBay or Craigslist, but I think this is a good deal as well. Here's a link to specs and such: http://us.acer.com/acer/productv.do?LanguageISOCtxParam=en&kcond61e.c2att101=82739&sp=page16e&ctx2.c2att1=25&link=ln438e&CountryISOCtxParam=US&ctx1g.c2att92=447&ctx1.att21k=1&CRC=1192392635 So FP, what's your opinion?
Why give us the price in GBP. Stuff here is overpriced, that would cost £350 here. And for basic stuff, it can't go wrong.
acer has bad build quality and that is about it
acer has bad build quality and that is about it
My laptop's fuckin sturdy. gateway/acer/emachines have improved a bunch.
I say get an Asus if you're getting a Windows laptop. I PERSONALLY don't buy Windows-based laptops and tend to go for Macbooks in that area. Apple laptops usually have battery life anywhere from 8-10 hrs (depending on the model you're purchasing), and their software is very well optimized to take full advantage of the hardware. OP, you should get an Asus netbook EEE. My brother owns one and it is great.
From my experience, Acers die really quickly.

I got my Acer 5739 sitting here. I love it.

For basics, that's a pretty nice deal. Although you might want to shop around somewhere other than Walmart.
