Victoria Police said the 28-year-old from Tarneit was pulled over on the Princes Freeway in Laverton just after 2:00am. He was clocked travelling at 186 kilometres per hour in a 100kph zone, police said. When he was pulled over by police he told the officers he was in a hurry to buy "a triple cheeseburger". Police said the officers were "less than impressed by the excuse". "Brimbank Highway Patrol officers could have been forgiven for thinking they were looking at a low-flying plane when they spotted the 28-year-old's Proton hatch flying down the Princess freeway at 2.14am," Victoria Police said. The man's car was impounded and he was expected to be charged with speeding and driving while suspended, police said.
http://www.abc.net.au/news/2015-02-06/man-speeding-at-190kph-hurrying-to-get-cheeseburger/6074982 the western suburbs are a strange and wonderful place
Dude, I totally understand him. He knew that at this late time, most places would be empty and thus he could order the freshest possible burger ever. He was rushing because he feared some other geniuses would have the same idea and cause a line, ruining everything.
I'm surprised a proton went that fast in the first place.
I'm surprised a proton went that fast in the first place.
On turning roads with traffic too.

The freshest burger is the burger you get when it's really busy, when the ingredients are being prepared and shoved out the door at a rapid pace. When the place is dead you get the patties that've been lying about in the heating units for a couple of hours.
I guess he wanted some fast food. Anyway, this is certainly a novel excuse for speeding. I wonder what the officer's immediate reaction was.
I don't get people like this. If you're on a suspended license, why the fuck would you go out of your way to bring attention to yourself?! A while back, they caught some guys with a god damn meth lab in their boot. They literally only pulled them over for the insane speeds they were also doing. For anyone that uses MPH by the way, this was 116mph (rounding up) in a 62mph area.
a triple cheeseburger at 2am is a valid excuse to do 186km/h
this was 116mph (rounding up) in a 62mph area.
christ I went to a track to test my car's full speed and anything above 110 or so feels so scary, yet cool. literally one tiny bump and you jerk the wheel, and you're off the road. not safe on any highway
That's not even fast.
Who wants a burger at 2am in the morning?
So I'm the only one that just wakes up at 2AM and starts craving a burger really bad?
Who wants a burger at 2am in the morning?
Anyway, that's pretty fast. Can't say I haven't sped a little* to get to a fast food joint before it closes, though. * - 20MPH+ over limit.
So I'm the only one that just wakes up at 2AM and starts craving a burger really bad?
You haven't had the full southern California experience until you've gone out in a t-shirt and shorts at 2AM and walked to a 24/7 McDonalds to order burgers and fries.

Eat a dick.
gotta take the s out of https also i was doing a bit of research about which fast food place the guy was speeding for and i'm pretty sure it was laverton maccas as it is right next to the freeway and also near the raaf base which is why the cops would have initially mistaken his car for a low-flying jet but i mean look at the place https://www.google.com.au/maps/@-37.870237,144.760758,3a,75y,33.87h,77.18t/data=!3m4!1e1!3m2!1sTyxww3Lc4HWHdxFMYQegGA!2e0?hl=en what a fuckin' destination definitely wanna get there asap even if it is a 24 hour establishment
I'm surprised a proton went that fast in the first place.
Those things are actually pretty quick...
Those things are actually pretty quick...
what model? I'm not very familiar with any Proton other than the Jumbuck
Its a proton satria gti
Its a proton satria gti
Oh the gti's. Yeah those with the 1.8l Lancer engine are quick. The rest are disappointing as shit though. 70's 12valve engine. In a 90's car.
Hey A mans got to eat
Australia man goes 116 in a 62: Makes the news. American man gets clocked by police doing 140 in a 55: Cop flashes lights on and off once and keeps going. (happened to me) Must have been a slow news day....
Yesterday I reached 1.2688172 Triple Cheeseburger speeds while driving home. [editline]8th February 2015[/editline]
American man gets clocked by police doing 140 in a 55: Cop flashes lights on and off once and keeps going. (happened to me)
Unbelievable.

You can get a fine for doing 4km/h (2.4MPH) if you're caught by a hidden speed camera in a bush. It's gotten to the point people are starting to find cameras then block the camera view or put up warning signs a 50ish meters up the road for them. It's a case of revenue raising for low level speeding. I can understand this guy getting done for doing 186 in a 100 zone though, that's pretty excessive.

They just reduced the limit on at least a dozen roads in my area another 10ks in the last couple months. ...and you can bet your ass that first month they reduced the limits there was a cop parked on each road. I mean obviously 186 is pretty retarded, but most of the people they catch aren't even in the same league as this guy.

I've had several bumps at 125mph (or rather, the same bump multiple times since it's a circuit) and besides the unexpected G force that pushes you up there's really not much to it, doesn't affect the car whatsoever. If that were true nobody could drive in the nurburgring, ever.

I've gone faster than this guy in a 60mph zone just to see what my car could do. Not saying it was a smart decision of course.
Misleading title, it was indeed a triple burger. Completely justified.
It's just weird the differences between Australia and the U.S.
Agreed. Honestly, I think the penalties for unsafe driving (especially under the influence of alcohol) are pretty lax in the U.S.
