• Building my first gaming computer, need suggestions.

Welp after years of freeloading off my bros computer, I feel that it was time for me to get my own. And so I went on Newegg and threw together specs that I believe is well good enough to run BF3 on its best! If some of the parts is not to your liking, can you suggest something that can be better? It needs to be balanced in terms of money and how efficient it can be. Right now what I compiled together has a grand total of 1,944 dollars not including tax. I'm trying to keep the price below 2k. Heres the list of things that I threw together as a rough build. Ignore the little pad accessories. Oh and try not to use too much jargon, I really can't understand it even though I'm taking cisco classes... EDIT: Okay I had just updated my listing to building my first gaming computer. Trying to build a gaming computer good enough to run BF3 on the best settings and with the most FPS. If you see that there are products that are equally as good as any product shown here but at a cheaper price then please do share it. I would really love to save my wallet. And I also forgot to get a optical drive, since I have absolutely no knowledge on optical drives, can someone suggest a good one for me? If you see that I'm missing parts, tell me please. EVGA GeForce GTX680 SuperClocked 2048MB GDDR5, DVI, DVI-D, HDMI, DisplayPort, 4-way SLI Ready Graphics Card Graphics Cards 02G-P4-2682-KR http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007KC1R9E/ref=gno_cart_title_1 I would like as much people as possible to judge my set up so I may improve it in anyway.
That GTX 580 is nearly the price of a GTX 680. Why not get that instead? If this is just for gaming, get an i5-3570 instead. No difference in performance in games. You don't need an aftermarket CPU cooler if you can't overclock the CPU. (3570k and 3770k are overclockable) Motherboard is incompatible with the CPU, look for Z77 chipset motherboards, such as http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157295 Never heard of HEC, get a better brand like SeaSonic, XFX, Antec, and Enermax.
680 completely sold out on newegg, guess I'm gonna have to get it on amazon. Replaced the MOBO on my original list with the one suggested above. And hows this for a PSU? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371051 [editline]1st May 2012[/editline] And so it turns out that I don't need a i7 processor for gaming, I'm guessing an i5 will do? Any suggestions for processor? [editline]1st May 2012[/editline] Oh and this is the 680 I'm thinking of getting. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007KC1R9E/ref=gno_cart_title_1
It's been said, but I'll say it again, do not buy a GTX 580, get a Radeon HD7970 or a GTX 680. Tons of i5s work fine for gaming. The Ivy Bridge equivalent to the 2500k would be a good choice.
Do you really need a gaming headset? Just curious. I use Sennheiser HD555 headphones and they work just fine for gaming, plus they sound great for music.

Don't buy into the gimmicky "G4m3r" tags companies slap onto their hardware. The only thing you can be sure about when they advertise to gamers is that it's almost always more expensive than a non-gamer equivalent. If you're really looking for a good pair of headphones, I'd recommend looking at the Headphones Buying guide here in H&S. My personal favorite would be the Sennheisers HD598 (affordable, godly sound quality) but there's a slew of alternatives that can be offered to the Turtle Beach.
the sennheiser PC350 is g4m3r tagged but still good
Hows this for a CPU? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116504 And plus I need a headset with a mic and all..

I just updated the OP with my new listing. I need as much people as possible to judge this set up so I may improve it.
I'm not a pro at building comps and shet, but I think you'd be more than satisfied going with a 212 Hyper EVO instead (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103099) and going for the ASRock Z77 Pro3 LGA 1155 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157297) instead. (Unless you plan on using the extra features / ports) Someone chime in on these suggestions?
