The driver, aged 41, was freed 40 minutes after the vehicle fell an estimated 30 metres before becoming stuck at ground level in a lane between the walls of the car park and another building. The driver was injured after she drove through a Melbourne car park safety barrier and plunged six storys to the street below. A woman is recovering in hospital after her car plunged from the sixth floor of a carpark in Melbourne's CBD this morning. Police are yet to determine just how a safety barrier failed to stop the woman driving off the sixth floor of the carpark at around 9:00am. Remarkably, she was still conscious when she was pulled from the silver station wagon, which had smashed into the tight laneway below. Acting Senior Sergeant John Mason was at the scene. "It appears as though the car has hit the side of the building before it's hit the ground - it's a pretty remarkable scene," he said. The woman, who is in her forties, is in hospital in a stable condition with a cut to the head. Ambulance crews say the car dropped to the ground and became wedged between two buildings, making it difficult to get to the female driver. Witness Louisa Hemala was arriving at work when she heard a loud noise that sounded like a truck accident. She says she was shocked to find the car had fallen from the car park above. Ms Hemala says the space the car fell into was such a tight fit that the windscreen popped out of the car. She says the driver was able to speak to them and an ambulance arrived a short time later. Richelle Hunt from ABC Local Radio says it appears as though the car took the entire fence and barricades with it. "It's like it's become wedged and it's landed and it's been skinned as it's come down," she said. "The entire side of the car is exposed. The doors have been ripped off, the windows have been shattered and we're seeing completely inside the car." Michael Rockefeller, whose unit overlooks the building, says he heard what sounded like the car bouncing off the walls of the alley as it went down. "The sight was terrible. Just looking at it now, I'm not sure how the lady got out at all," he said. He said emergency crews had to use equipment to cut her from the car. "We saw her come out and she was moving, which was a good sign, but I'm not sure how serious her injuries are." The car's driver will be interviewed by police later. The car park has been declared a crime scene.
Source: http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2011/04/04/3181405.htm Wow, that is pretty fucking amazing. And once again, facepunch will say its because the driver is a woman.
its because the driver is a woman
Only a cut to the head too. Hopefully they don't discover anything more serious though.

Looks like something you'll manage to do in GTA IV
Looks like something you'll manage to do in GTA IV
hehe good times

She is a highlander
What is is lately with people driving out/off multi-level carparks? It's like 5th case I heard about in few months.
That happens to me all the time.
its because the driver is a woman
Women are fine drivers, just look: Creative landing! I hate waiting for the train in the cold. What an ingenious idea! Women suck at craftsmanship and carpentry. This is a good alternative to making a garage.

It's either been reported more, or you've just noticed it more, and thus it seems like it happens more often nowadays.
Well at least when her husband makes fun of her parallel parking the car she can say "I've squeezed it into tighter spots than this." and her husband can say "That's what she said" and everyone lives happily ever after. Unless of course her husband has left her for a younger woman and she deliberately drove her car off the car park in a suicide attempt because of it.
Looks like something you'll manage to do in GTA IV
Heh, I actually thought about gta just before I read your comment.

So much Sexist comments about women drivers. Seriously, I'll be glad the person would be alive from that fall.
