F1 chief ‘completely agrees’ with Putin over homosexuality
Formula 1 chief Bernie Ecclestone has spoken of his “great admiration” for Vladimir Putin and how he “completely agrees” with the Russian president’s views regarding homosexuality.
Ecclestone met with Putin to conclude a deal for the Russian Grand Prix, which will see Winter Olympics host city Sochi stage a Formula 1 race for the very first time this October.
And in an interview with CNN Ecclestone stated that he felt Putin’s controversial policies on gay rights had been misrepresented.
In Russia it is illegal to promote what the state has termed gay "propaganda", with homosexuals in the country subject to widespread intimidation and repression.
"He hasn't said he doesn't agree [with homosexuality] just that he doesn't want these things publicised to an audience under the age of 18," Ecclestone told CNN.
"I completely agree with those sentiments and if you took a world census you'd find 90% of the world agree with it as well.
"I've great admiration for him and his courage to say what he says," he continued.
Congratulations, Bernie, you've now proven that both you and Czar Putin are dumbasses. I hope you enjoy your hate mail.

Coming from the man who brought you such quotes as:
"If you have a look at a democracy it hasn’t done a lot of good for many countries — including this one"
and
"You know I've got one of those wonderful ideas ... women should be dressed in white like all the other domestic appliances.
Why would anyone even care about the F1 chief's opinion on something that isn't F1 related

Why would anyone care about what he has to say, period.

I don't understand this type of logic practically ever show you see on tv involves heterosexuality. When the little kids show has parents that are a man and a woman thats promoting heterosexuality. When the ring commercial comes on with a man proposing to a woman same thing. But have a show with two moms and all of a sudden the homosexual agenda is being pushed on our youth.

i get the sentiment that they don't want to force kids to learn sexuality at a young age but honestly leaving it until after they're 18 just makes it harder to change what they've come to understand. imagine using the metric system of measurement until you're an adult and then you're forced to learn imperial.
Said sentiment is probably just bullshit but still. Better to introduce kids to concepts like sexuality and death (even if just touching on it) while they're still forming their understanding of the world then to shatter their understanding and force them to relearn everything.

That's not how sports works. That is assuming they have an intelligent, compassionate fan base. That is NOT how sports works.
Bernie is like 200 years old his ideals are obviously still stuck in the past. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, even if it is as shit as his is.
We do need a new F1 chief though regardless of whether he's a homophobe or not. He's done a lot for the sport but he's too bloody old.
"Bernie plz go"
"no"
Why is this even a thing? Jesus fuckin' Christ, it literally has no effect on anything in anyone's lives except the gay people.
Come to Canada, gays, you can even get married here.
I wouldn't trust Bernie Ecclestone to give me the correct time of day let alone any kind of meaningful opinion on anything.

It's just annoying how opinions of celebrities are put on a pedestal.

Mostly because exploring the idiocy/wisdom of a well known person is entertaining to some. The media just capitalizes on this.
I didn't even know there was a Formula 1 track in Sochi, but this guy is being used.
And overnight F1's profits drops a few tens of millions of dollars

Yeah, right. Stay inside your bubble.
I'm not surprised in the slightest, this is a man who said (something along the lines of) that female race drivers should wear white like all kitchen appliances.
