None of the Mac users will be soo exited.
I don't quite see why someone would rate this dumb. Sure, EA is dumb - but blind hate towards a company trying to improve what they have isn't dumb at all. This is in fact quite excellent, if you ask me. At least they're trying to beat Steam.
I thought Macs couldn't get viruses?
I thought it already was available for Macs, seeing as their best selling franchise, The Sims, is sold for Macs at retail.
"Hey guys, our PC version of Origin is still in beta after more than a year. What should our next move be?" "RELEASE IT FOR OS X!" Great logic EA.
Origin is such a Steam ripoff. Even when you open a chat it says "Dont tell your password to anyone"
Origin is such a Steam ripoff. I dislike origin as much as the next guy, but come on. Lets not get crazy. Unless you were joking. You might be.

RPS had their word at this as well
Imagine if Steam had never reached Mac and Origin had reached it before getting to Windows. Maybe it would be the Instagram incident all over again :v:
Origin is such a Steam ripoff. Even when you open a chat it says "Dont tell your password to anyone"
Right, because skimping on security features is the smart thing to do. Seriously, Origin can try to copy Steam all it wants, they'll always be several paces behind as long as Steam keeps advancing - which is happening right now with the big Community update. Good on the Origin devs to catch up a bit, I'm happy for everyone that's wanted for this to happen. Gotta give credit where it's due, even if it's just baby steps.
Good. They're invariably going to fuck up F2P games, but the Mac support and achievements are nice.
At least it runs better than Steam.
I thought it already was available for Macs, seeing as their best selling franchise, The Sims, is sold for Macs at retail.
The Sims, atleast #3, is completely independent and uses it's own launcher for updates/DRM
At least it runs better than Steam.
Not really. The 9.0 update fucked everything up performance wise for me.
The Sims, atleast #3, is completely independent and uses it's own launcher for updates/DRM
Actually The Sims 3 isn't entirely independent from Origin. The game requires origin to be installed for updates but it doesn't update the same the way other origin games do. It uses a legacy patching system left from EADM left in for compatibility.
I'm so glad I'll be able to play The Sims 3 with some extra inconvenience!
Now I can overspend on my computer and my games!
I wonder how many of those 21 million users actually use Origin regularly.
At least it runs better than Steam.
Steam does not freeze my computer for 10 seconds when starting up.
I wonder how many of those 21 million users actually use Origin regularly.
I am wondering the number of people that use origin that use origin for games other than BF3 and ME3...
Nobody is waiting for this. Of all the things I want ported to Mac origin is way down on the list.
Steam does not freeze my computer for 10 seconds when starting up.
Huh, funny you say that. Neither does Origin. Though Steam does hang/ just generally slow down for me multiple times a day when using the client to browse the store or community functionality. Something I've never had Origin do (largely because the store is still a fucking joke, not going there).
I'm more interested to know which games they will actually port to Mac, except The Sims of course.
I'm more interested to know which games they will actually port to Mac, except The Sims of course.
If they port over the frostbite engine that could open up the doors to BF3/4, MOH2, C&C, and whatever else they build using that engine.
