How can I modify Windows 7 start bar?

I have seen some screenshots of some desktops on here, (can't find one atm) how would I go customize it?

The start bar is tiny with a square windows symbol and translucent.

Will try to find a picture. I know the forum members avatar that has it is an engineer from TF2.

Right click, properties, use small icons. As for the other shit, uxtheme patcher, start button changer, and some shit from deviantart is all you need.
