Due to come out some time next year, this movie is the sequel to the previous Silent Hill movie.

Not much is known yet but I will update this thread later on when I can.
The previous cast; Sean Bean and Radha Mitchell are returning along with Malcolm McDowell and Kit Harington (Game of Thrones)
The first movie was pretty good so hopefully this one is even better.
Youtube video talking about Revelation + Downpour:

It has "3D" in the title so I'm guessing it will suck.
Well the original movie wasn't all that bad, it captured the Silent Hill atmosphere pretty well, even though that secret cult thing was kinda dumb. It seems like this time they're gonna be recreating the story from the games along with the characters, so I'm not sure if that'll work out too well.

From the imdb page it sounds like it's gonna be based on Silent Hill 3's storyline.

I noticed that but hopefully the whole movie isn't 3D gimmick shit.
I always wanted a sequel because I quite liked the movie but was disappointed with the ending. Don't really understand why it needs to be in 3D though.
Not too sure about this
but hey, I'll see it for Malcolm McDowell.
old malcolm mcdowell used to be the man inside my head torturing my brains.
funny my mind picked him, cause he's the therapist in halloween or some shit.
Oh god I hope it wont have a 10000 scenes made only for 3D purposes.
Those scenes are so fucking lame.
i want this movie to be good, but odds are it won't
and pyramid head is in this movie too, that's a decent sign that the people behind this film have no idea what they're doing
Malcolm McDowell makes shitty movies watchable.
he scares the living shit out of me
Wait, Malcolm McDowell is in this?
Fuck yeah, man, I'm seeing this.
I wouldn't be TOO happy about that, he takes any job he can get these days.
Wait, it says "gameplay" in the title.....is it a game or a movie?

The video is showing gameplay of Downpour while people are talking about Revelation and what they're taking from the game(s).
hmm, i'm guessing it's adopting the whole brutal player character deaths thing. i dunno if i really like that. sure it adds to the oppressive atmosphere but you know someone out there gets off to that kind of shit.
what was the first game that had that? not just the player gibbing or losing a head or an arm when it spawns the dead player model but enemies actually tearing them off and shit?
Coming from a person who actually didn't mind the silent hill movie and found it somewhat enjoyable, this is going to be shit.
A fucking prequel, to THAT story??
At least they look at their source material, not like those who make RE movies, who just keep doing random over-the-top shit that has nothing to do with any of the games.

Wait, if the first film was based on the first game (with rather horrible alterations) then this which is clearly based on the third game makes no sense, or they back tracking or something? altering the whole thing bar some plot elements and names?
this film is a sequel
the game it's based off is silent hill 3, the sequel to silent hill 1 (the game the first movie was based off)
I don't think the first movie was based of any Silent Hill game's story, it had nothing to do with the stories of any of them. It was mostly just based on the town itself.
But Revelations actually sounds like it's based on the story of SH3.
i never watched the first film but i was under the impression that it was loosely based off silent hill 1
it was based off all the games in a way.
but i swear if it wasn't for the music it would have been another shitty horror movie. but with the music i still think it's kinda shit
Going to be as terrible as the first one.
now that i've watched it (as i'm in the process of playing the second game) i cannot understand why anyone would like it in the least bit. the whole cult aspect fucking ruined it. evil is much scarier if its face is very abstract and inhuman.
not that i'm one to say it with much confidence as i haven't played the third and fourth games (i've played homecoming and it was shit) but i think silent hill should just die. at least it would fade into obscurity instead of being known as another great IP that was milked to death.

I don't know about tearing arms off, but I remember in Resident Evil 2 when Leon/Claire are killed the zombies tear bits of flesh off of them.
Regarding the film, I thought the first one was awesome. Really awesome. My only problem was that Sean Bean's part was pretty shit, but that was quickly forgotten by Laurie Holden playing the badass cop.
I will admit the 3D in the title of Revlation makes me cringe a little bit, but I hold high hopes for the film.
Let me guess the ending of SH: Downpour. You died in the bus crash. Silent Hill was just a purgatory. The end.

Funny cause that was essentially one of the endings for the first Silent Hill.

I know.

i actually kinda would like to know if anyone really knows. i remember this one resident evil that came out a while ago and it had a few player character deaths that were gruesome. i think they were just cutscenes though.

I remember Hunters coming out of no where and just decapitating you, and also the Shark.
