• Donald Trump says "I would scare the pope" when it comes to talking about capitalism vs greed
Picture this: Trump and the Pope, face-to-face. And the Pope tells the mogul that capitalism can be toxic. How would Trump reply? "I'd say, 'ISIS wants to get you,'" Trump said, when asked by Cuomo about that hypothetical scenario. "You know that ISIS wants to go in and take over the Vatican? You have heard that. You know, that's a dream of theirs, to go into Italy," Trump said. Cuomo, taken aback, asked if Trump would actually scare the Pope, who is coming to the U.S. for his first visit next month. "I'm gonna have to scare the Pope because it's the only thing," Trump said. "The Pope, I hope, can only be scared by God. But the truth is -- you know, if you look at what's going on -- they better hope that capitalism works, because it's the only thing we have right now. And it's a great thing when it works properly." Trump said right now, capitalism was not working properly in the U.S. because of over-regulation of industry. The real estate mogul said that though he is a Protestant, he generally likes Pope Francis, who has been outspoken on a number of politically sensitive issues including poverty, climate change and judging gays. "I have great respect for the Pope," Trump said. "I like the Pope. I actually like him. He's becoming very political, there's no question about it. But I like him. He seems like a pretty good guy." Trump also noted he doesn't believe the Pope is actually opposed to capitalism.
http://www.cnn.com/2015/08/19/politics/donald-trump-chris-cuomo-cnn-interview/index.html To be fair, the actual question by the reporter was kind of shit. It included a scenario where the pope is "shaking his finger at you Mr. Trump" while telling him how "evil capitalism is".
I love the fact that even a total asshole like Trump likes Pope Francis. But uhh, wasn't the dream of ISIS to establish some big, ass-backwards caliphate?
I wonder if Trumps plan is to say a bunch of horrible shit to begin with and then gradually become less and less of an asshole until election time when he looks like a saint by comparison.
i really hope he doesn't win
another one for the trump quote plugin Donald "I would scare the pope" Trump
i really hope he doesn't win
Trump is my "anyone but him" candidate for this election. Which is a lot since my previous "anyone but him" candidate, Santorum, is running this time too.
I love the fact that even a total asshole like Trump likes Pope Francis. But uhh, wasn't the dream of ISIS to establish some big, ass-backwards caliphate?
ISIS wants to re-establish the Umayyad Caliphate i believe. But them wanting to kill the pope would not suprise anyone, considering they're slaughtering christians in he middle east.
i really hope he doesn't win
it is so hard to believe that trump went from a political punchline to someone who is actually looking like a possibility so quickly
it is so hard to believe that trump went from a political punchline to someone who is actually looking like a possibility so quickly
I saw it coming from the start. Trump has made some bold statements. He is like a revolution and some people are attracted to that
Scary seeing Trump becoming a candidate who might actually be a possibility of becoming a new president. I just really hope Sanders can win somehow. I'm hoping either him or Jeb Bush wins. Yeah Jeb Bush isn't the best candidate to vote for, but if Sanders is out I want him over Trump.
It's scary to think that a guy with a shit ton of money and no known political background is able to run for president. Suddenly Stephen King's Greg Stillson from The Dead Zone is pretty darn close at this point. Then again, we got Reagan, and he was okay judging from the history books.

Trump is the closest chance this country has to getting something done. he is honest by speaking his mind without having to answer to anybody. I have a feeling that the envy for his wealth and brutal honesty is cockblocking everyone who hates the possibility of him winning the election
I'd be surprised if Trump even made it through the primaries, primary voters don't tend to be that stupid and would pick a far more realistic candidate. Gold help us all if he does win though.
Why does anyone who's not a catholic give a shit what the pope has to say? Why is his opinion valued so highly like he's anything more than the theocratic figurehead of a once-powerful religious empire? He's like the queen of England is to the Anglican church

Too many Christian voters would dismiss you immediately.
Trump is the closest chance this country has to getting something done. he is honest by speaking his mind without having to answer to anybody.
Lmao, every time you see someone who actually likes Trump, it's always "He speaks his mind" and "He doesn't have to answer to anyone." Like, if Mike Judge were dead, he'd be turning in his grave over the amount of people who not only think being an ignorant blowhard is a virtue "because he speaks his mind," but still think the contents of his mind are worth voting for afterwards. And then there's the ridiculous idea avoiding voting someone who's in the pockets of big business by voting for someone who represents those elements directly.

You can't really disagree with his assessment on how devout worship of capitalism is morally bankrupt and has failed the poor, we have a party that seriously asks why should we help them, and calls any social safety nets entitlements to make them seem like handouts [editline]20th August 2015[/editline] Trump is doing everything he can to collapse the Republican tent

Honesty means jack fucking shit if all you have to say is garbage, I'd prefer to not have our country be the drunk racist uncle of the world because our elected leader and representative doesn't know how to communicate like a respectful human being.

I said before that people follow trump because it is a revolution from the status quo, and I say he has the most potential out of the other shovel headed muppets in the race
Trump's got nothing on Muammar Gaddafi, the hero America needs. We need a tough leader who'll put us in our place.

Other candidates might compromise their beliefs, but Trump's are already reprehensible to begin with.
I hope Bernie Sander's wins, but I rather have Trump over Clinton. I respect him for not taking in the Super Pac donations and speaking his mind. I really don't find his views that obtuse from the typical republican crowd. I really do think people hate on him here unconditionally spouting he is racist, bigoted, and a failed buisness person when he really isn't.
If the US votes the Trump Sorry guys, but you deserve every kind of shit that will pop up due to this guy. Much like the Buenos Aires provincia voting the same pricks since 1991 and still whining about floods then voting the same pricks.

The way I see Trump's campaign is that if he actually wins, at least something in the government is getting fucked up beyond repair. Sure, the presidency will be a disaster and likely end up in his death by any number of foreign zealots, but at least he would purge some parts of the powers that be for being inefficient and pass laws that are blatantly beneficial to his corporation and give everyone the wake-up call about how corrupt politics are in this country Also the GOP has little chance of survival no matter what after this next election so we'd just have to sit through a year or two until he is impeached or worse and then we will get someone who knows what they are doing, depending on who his running mate is

Sure, I've cringed at what he says on air to megyn kelly and his ideas about females, but the man has a sound mentality about securing our borders and shutting down the national debt

The East Germans. Tell me, where are the east Germans and their wall now?

The wall he wants will be a nightmare. He'll have to use eminent domain to get property from farmers to build it. He's going to have to make American rivers and lakes inaccessible to Americans. It's going to cut off animal migration/habits.. it's going to cost hundreds of billions to build and take decades to finish, during which millions of more migrants will come in. A wall is treating a symptom, not a cause. Repealing the 14th amendment is a reprehensible symptom treatment.

Just because a lot of people hold an ideal doesn't mean it can't be a shit one
