(CNN) -- The first U.S. case of Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) coronavirus has been reported in Indiana, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Friday. The patient is a health-care provider who recently traveled to Saudi Arabia to provide health care, said Dr. Anne Schuchat, assistant surgeon general with the U.S. Public Health Service and director for the National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases. The person, an American male, traveled on April 24 from Riyadh to London, then to Chicago, and took a bus to Indiana, officials said. He began experiencing shortness of breath, coughing, and fever on April 27, according to the Indiana State Department of Health. The patient was admitted to Community Hospital in Munster, Indiana, on April 28, the same day he visited the emergency department there, the health department said. He has been isolated and is in stable condition. He is receiving oxygen support, but does not require a ventilator, Schuchat said.
Read More along with video in Source [editline]2nd May 2014[/editline] More information on the MERS virus can be found on the CDC's official page on it here
Seems to me like another over-hyped situation that will probably be resolved within a reasonable time.
Incoming mass paranoia.
Seems to me like another over-hyped situation that will probably be resolved within a reasonable time.
Yeah that's why I always scoff and ignore reports of 'outbreaks'. 15-20 people with something does not a public health concern make. Stop scaremongering and let me know when hundreds of people are catching it in the span of a few hours, not a handful who've probably never come into contact with each other.
we have to kill patient zero we have to stop the outbreak brad pitt in 'MERS MAN'
Well, fuck.
burning the bodies as we speak

It doesn't even sound that scary. Yeah, he's forced into a hospital bed with a for-comfort ventilator, but it's not like he's about to die.

It's better to be informed about it than blow it out of proportion like most people anticipate, but it never really happens. It'll make the local news with the same script as always and nothing will be out of the ordinary.
Time for everyone to break out those little masks and wear them everywhere.
oh fucking hell I live half an hour from munster Didn't know the patient was this close by.

Always nice to see a local band finally make it big in the West.
