• Apple banned from Importing iPhone
APPLE has been banned from importing the iPhone 4 and a variant of the iPad 2 by a US trade agency after finding the devices violate a patent held by South Korean rival Samsung Electronics. It was the latest shot in a global legal battle between the two smartphone makers.Because the devices are assembled in China, the import ban would end Apple's ability to sell them in the US. Last year, a federal court ruled that Samsung owed Apple $1 billion in damages for infringing on non-essential Apple patents. But the judge refused to impose an import ban on Samsung phones and later struck $450 million from the verdict, saying the jurors miscalculated. The case is set for a rematch in appeals court. oh its this thing again
Karma's a bitch, isn't it?
Now if Europe did the same.. oh boy
I wish it was the new apple stuff, so that teenage girls can't get what they want.
I wish it was the new apple stuff, so that teenage girls can't get what they want.
Hrr I dont like thing I wish noone could have it so they could see how much better MY thing is!!
Ouch! That's gotta hurt, heh Apple?
I wish it was the new apple stuff, so that teenage girls can't get what they want.
Why does it matter? Even so some of the "stereotypes" you're talking about are getting galaxy's
Not like that really matters as those are older variants, their newer ones are the phones that are generating them the most profit. Sure it's a hit but it is negligible at best.
Hrr I dont like thing I wish noone could have it so they could see how much better MY thing is!!
I don't have a phone, I don't want to show them anything. It's annoying sitting down in the morning and seeing about 1,000 different girls doing nothing but looking down at this shiny plastic piece of shit texting or something not talking to friends or anything. Though this isn't necessarily karma or anything and it's really just showing how much the system can fuck up, not really a winner for anyone.
Why are we cheering on patent bullshit just because it's against Apple This is awful and a perfect example of the flawed nature of the patent system
Why are we cheering on patent bullshit just because it's against Apple This is awful and a perfect example of the flawed nature of the patent system
This. I dislike it when people claim to hate our patent system but when its flaws are being used against a company they hate it's suddenly ok.
Why are we cheering on patent bullshit just because it's against Apple This is awful and a perfect example of the flawed nature of the patent system
Because the majority of FP users like to suck the ever lasting cock of android and hate anything apple makes with blind hatred Apple can be a dick but without them the whole industry would just be Windows and Linux, and that's no fun whenever. Also without the iPhone, I don't think phones would of come this far like they are now
Why are we cheering on patent bullshit just because it's against Apple This is awful and a perfect example of the flawed nature of the patent system
Yes, it's terrible and all but karma is a bitch. [editline]5th June 2013[/editline]
Apple can be a dick but without them the whole industry would just be Windows and Linux
Sounds pretty good to me.
Why are we cheering on patent bullshit just because it's against Apple This is awful and a perfect example of the flawed nature of the patent system
Let me start by saying I fucking hate Apple. I have never liked the company, the products, none of it. I'm saying this because I want you to know I am severely biased against Apple, but I'm doing my best to have an open mind. That being said, this wouldn't be happening if Apple didn't sue Samsung in the first place. Mind you, at the time Apple was using Samsung components and tried to make it look like Samsung had copied them in 2011. If you recall during the summer of last year, the South Korean courts basically said both companies were being naughty. This case was a part of Samsung's counter-sue in three different countries, (South Korea, Japan, and Germany) so that sorta backfired on them. Simply put, Apple didn't like the competition at all and tried to do something about it. Hell, their timing was fucking obvious because in the same year, Samsung's CEO said that the safety of the company wasn't guaranteed. So, really, it's obvious Apple struck when they saw their opponent as weak, I'd even say they didn't really care about the intellectual property in the first place. This is all in spite of the fact that Samsung topped 300 million phones sold in 2011, up 20 million from 2010. These numbers would tell anyone that if Samsung wasn't brought down a peg or two now, (as in, two years ago) anyone going against them would have a tough time in the near future. Anyway, the South Korean court found that they both violated patents and it was essentially a slap on the wrist. Didn't slow down Apple fighting tooth and nail in every court case Samsung filed. Apple and Samsung also played this little game where they'd file injunctions against the other in multiple countries to try and keep them out. I'm honestly surprised that Samsung is fighting this hard against Apple, but if it wasn't Samsung it'd probably be somebody else by now. Apple has a long, long history of litigation against anyone and everyone, mostly because Steve Jobs was a gigantic crybaby. Fuck, does anyone remember when Apple decided to get pissy over a NYC environmental program? They used an apple for a logo, which made Apple angry. I'm honestly surprised Apple hasn't sued the Vatican because the story of Adam and Eve could be misconstrued as libel against them. Though, that would be hilarious if they did. The only thing flawed about this is it's not so much about intellectual property as it is about aesthetics, (Apple's constant "look and feel" argument) and the desire to get Samsung the fuck out of the game. Apple has been gambling that Samsung would either give up or the courts would, for some reason, be fooled by Apple's silly bullshit. There is a big grey area in this matter because Samsung does make their own phones, and they do provide components to Apple phones. There have been multiple rulings that favor Apple and Samsung, but so far it's mostly been "Apple, stop stealing shit."
Apple can be a dick but without them the whole industry would just be Windows and Linux, and that's no fun whenever.
It being Linux and Windows would be fine. "No fun whenever"? All it would mean is there's one less platform to worry about compatibility issues with, so actually, things would only be more "fun" (you can use more software on your computer).
yeah, fuck competition!!
Because, of course, nothing else exists, no one else could come up with something, and there's no way an open source project could ever compete, right? Linux would probably be as "big" as it is now, if not larger. Apple being out of the picture wouldn't change much in Windows' market share.

Most Windows laptops are a race to the bottom to make the cheapest most affordable laptop with no care in the world for quality. Still to this day, most professional reviewers prefer the Macbook to any other laptop, and those people aren't computer illiterate by any means

There are, and have been, plenty of good Windows laptops since before MacBooks (but feel free to just generalize them all away). Plus, it's only natural that the market is going to lead to cheap but crappy laptops being common, since that's a pretty viable niche. People who can't afford to put down $1500 on a laptop make up a pretty big audience, and you can't expect that much quality from a laptop that costs a few hundred.

Were talking about what they're doing wrong now. I dont like Apple because of there business practice, they just sue people instead of challenge them and out innovate them.

Apple has always been important, and the current computer and electronics market would look completely different today without them. Competition is always good. It promotes innovation and provides consumer choice. [editline]5th June 2013[/editline]
Microsoft had worked with Apple Computer to develop applications for Apple's new Macintosh computer, which featured a graphical user interface. As part of the related business negotiations, Microsoft had licensed certain aspects of the Macintosh user interface from Apple; in later litigation, a district court summarized these aspects as "screen displays".
yeah, fuck competition!!
Linux and Windows provide enough competition.
