I Installed Ubuntu on my External Hard Drive with Daul boot and my Vista is broken

So I accidentally broke my Vista Ultimate, it does that whole restarting when it gets to the boot screen thing~ But that isn't the point. What IS the point is that I decided "Hey, ubuntu is pretty cool. I'll just install that in daul boot.
^__^ (mfw i had this amazing idea)
What I forgot is that I had an external hard drive plugged in at the time, and I accidentally installed Ubuntu onto that. So I was wondering, how to un-install ubuntu from the external hard drive, and re-install it on my computer's hard drive. If that makes sense.
I thought of maybe putting windows 98 on a USB and then just deleting it off the hard drive, would that work?
Please Help
Maybe try installing Ubuntu again by burning the ISO onto a CD or USB, and dual booting it properly, it should add the GNU grub boot loader

I already burned the ISO onto a CD, do you mean if i set the BIOS to boot from a CD first it should allow me to re intall ubuntu?
Yeah, if you boot off the CD it lets you test out ubuntu, and then you can choose where to install it on to. I recently tried dual booting 7 with ubuntu, it's alright, but i personally preferred 7, so I got rid of it.
if you've installed it onto an external HDD and want to use your computer with out having to have the external HDD plugged in, you'll need to get a vista recovery CD and fix the boot manager.
Becasue you've installed GRUB as a boot manager, it has to go on the external HDD and look for it. If you havn't got it plugged in, it can't find it. I had the same problem when the caddie i used stopped working and in the end jsut wiped both HDD's clean and then reinstalled my windows OS.

or, you could just install the GRUB loader onto your internal HDD.

how to install GRUB onto internal HDD?
... just looking there, it apears you can't. It has to run on a linux system. my bad.
other option in to get the windows boot loader.
windows boot loader? should i just google it or?
Again, if you still want to try ubuntu, dual boot it onto the computer and it should install grub.
Here's the simple way of doing this.
1. Unplug the external HDD (we don't want to do something silly again)
2. Boot from the Ubuntu CD
3. Install on your main HDD alongside Windows (use the nice little slider that allows you to resize the windows partition. Make sure you don't use the entire disk if you want to keep windows.)
4. Continue the installation. (Ubuntu will do its magic)
5. You'll get a nice menu and have an option between Ubuntu and Window
6. Boot both OSes and see if everything works.
7. In windows, plug your external HDD in.
8. It should ask you if you want to format it. (say yes)
