• EMERGENCY: Processor won't fit in mobo

My 1155 socket processor (i5 2500k) won't fit in the motherboard (which is also a 1155 socket). It sits in nicely, but when I pull the lever to secure it in place, a strange sound is heard and the lever won't go down without force. I did not do anything stupid like touch the gold pins or force it in. What is going wrong?
If it sits fine, just add force to the leaver. They normally don't go down without a fight.
I had the same problem with same processor, I had to press the seat down so hard that it scratched the top of the processor, and it fit in uncomfortably, but it worked. It takes a lot of force, don't worry about how much force you are exerting onto the processor, just get the lever under the thingy.
Adding force is fine, the more force it takes to push it down, the stronger the hold on the processor is, that's all, it's normal.
