What a great game!
I remember playing the beta for the mmo.
I love the music in the game.
At least they've added trains in this now...
I got the limited edition of Cities XL 2009.
It was crap, the UI felt unfinished, no subways, no trains, none of the "GEM's" were released, basically it was a half finished game to me.
Lets hope this one will be better.
Just to let you guys know.
If you own Cities XL 2009 from before, there's a loyalty check of some sort, similar to STALKER. You can get Cities XL 2011 for half-off. This is also said on the Steam Store front.
Because of that, I can get it for $20. I'm really considering it, the game looks chalk-full of content this time, and I did greatly enjoy playing, despite waiting until AFTER it died as an MMO to get it.
So does the game not suck now?
It's hard to explain but this game just looks really ugly once you've got a big city going, all the buildings look the same and it's ALL skyscrapers. I'm judging from gameplay videos and trailers, though.

I'm still playing it! Addictive.

Also, this sequel was developed by another studio.
This game is great, I made an underground highway connecting both ends of my city to each other as well as the city centre.
Can someone talk a bit more about whether or not this game is worth it?

Same here. The only thing I've heard is the aforementioned poster and the fact that the steam version seems to have some issues at the moment. There aren't any reviews from IGN, Gamespot, Gametrailers, etc.
Because the previous ones were terrible, I would think the same about this one.
Rather cool how if you buy CXL 2010 for 14.99 you get CXL 2011 for 14.98, so you get two games for the price of one.
Does the loyalty check work if it is being gifted?
I expect it does, for stalker it did. And for the people who rated me dumb, put it this way, would you rather buy this game on it's own for £29.99 OR buy 2010 for £14.99 and get the loyalty bonus on 2011 so you can get it for £14.99? 2 for 1.
SimCity 4 is still the best.

but cities XL 2011 is the first game with more features
it's not a full new game in any respect
The game can be very demanding if you have a big city.
I really enjoyed Cities XL but hated the subscription fee and the fact that the free period was something like a week. So I never paid and it shut down.
So I'm interested in this since it seems to be all the MP features but in SP and without pointless fees.
Apparently the .exe file has been changed to the digital download version from their own store. Seems the steam version had some UI lag that seems to be eliminated now (except with large cities).
So this doesn't have the horrible monthly fees? I might actually take a look at it now.
No monthly fees.
