It's actually easier to publish on Wii U, than on Steam... The thing about Greenlight it that you just don't know, there aren't any clear answers and they seem to be changing their policy, and their CEO is saying one thing and they are acting in another way. I think a lot of developers are anxious about Greenlight, right now.
The interview. is anyone actually buying the wii u?
is anyone actually buying the wii u?
The sales are slow and underwhelming at the moment, but a lot of indie developers have been jumping on the system as of lately.
Proving further that Greenlight is a massive fucking failure.
Also there is a lot of speculation that Nintendo is waving the licensing fee for many indie developers at the moment to help build up the eShop library. From the Two Tribe Games: He has been a huge supporter of the system and implies that something like this is going on on his twitter feed for a while, but talking in hints like these.
Greenlight's a pretty bad system, but what preceded it looked pretty awful too.
my guess is that even with the slow sales of the Wii U, the devs can still get their game out there a lot easier and have a better chance of people buying their game

Seems easier to publish for Wii U, but is it easier to develop for? Y'know, what with a different architecture to PC and all.

Plus there's the whole Nintendo Web Framework thing.
Handy.
is anyone actually buying the wii u?
I plan to, and many people are just waiting for there to actually be games for the thing. I think it'll be a 3DS thing. No games for the first year, then the sales pick up and there's too many games to buy. With luck anyway. It's like it's a new tradition to have your console flop for the first year now with Nintendo.

Can someone please explain to me why Greenlight apparently sucks?
Can someone please explain to me why Greenlight apparently sucks?
Because the amount of votes you need to get your game on Steam is far too high, no games are getting on except for the ones that are extraordinarily popular. Not necessarily unfairly popular, mind you, but there are a massive number of really deserving games that aren't getting enough votes simply because they don't have enough exposure.
Can someone please explain to me why Greenlight apparently sucks?
The problem is two fold, 1) It's democratic, and people are incredibly stupid most of the time. It's a crapshoot if anything gets greenlit or not. 2) Valve is a huge bottleneck for adding titles to Steam since the process was originally conceived when they only had fairly big releases that weren't very often. They have been trying to improve the process so they can add more titles quicker.
Can someone please explain to me why Greenlight apparently sucks?
Go ask all your friends when they last voted for something on greenlight. I'm gonna bet that most of the answers will be longer than a month ago. And that's the problem with greenlight. Fucking nobody is actively using it.
id love to make a wii u game someday. the gamepad would be a really neat thing to create mechanics around
Seems easier to publish for Wii U, but is it easier to develop for? Y'know, what with a different architecture to PC and all.
No, not really. Assuming the Wii U has a proper API (which it seems to have), it'd be like developing on or porting to any other platform. You just have to learn how to use the API properly and the compiler takes care of all the rest.
I've noticed a trend recently that a lot of game kickstarters have had Wii U stretch goals that are priced to where it's almost guaranteed that if the project gets funded, so will the Wii U tier. The devs for Shovel Knight said that Nintendo actually approached them when they expressed interest in the Wii U, and have reported that Nintendo is taking a very active part in helping to get the game on the Wii U. I imagine this has something to do with the fact that I had eight dollars in eshop credit on the Wii U a few days ago and genuinely could not find a single thing to spend it on.
is anyone actually buying the wii u?
I bought it last christmas and still only have three games for it. Only played ZombieU and New Super Mario Bros. U once, but Nintendoland is still really fun and I play it every time someone comes over to visit. I feel like the Wii U is gonna be like the Wii, absolute fun to play with others but pretty bland by yourself.
is anyone actually buying the wii u?
Pre-ordered mine as soon as possible from Toys r Us online. They screwed up somehow and I never paid a cent for it.
The Wii U has a great API and in fact a web based API for making software and Unity was ported to it. It's pretty nice.
Persona 5 3DS/Wii U Exclusive :v:
Persona 5 3DS/Wii U Exclusive :v:
Do we still have no idea who bought Atlus?
I went to gamestop the other day, there was someone there from Nintendo with a table with a bunch of 3DSs and a playable one. She asked me and my friends a lot of questions about the Wii U, like would we ever consider buying one, or why have we not considered it and stuff. I just thought it was weird that someone from Nintendo would be in a gamestop where I live since its not a big city or anything.
Do we still have no idea who bought Atlus?
Index is supposed to announce it eventually.
Index is supposed to announce it eventually.
I really hope that the buyout doesn't affect the Shin Megami Tensei x Fire Emblem. I am really looking forward to that crossover game.

With Sega, it would be pretty much more of the same, but it would be really interesting to see Nintendo at the head. It would possibly negate the effect of the Vita price cut (No more P4A and other Persona titles), and would add some more killer apps to the Wii U.
