Bill Maher, on the other hand, does not stand with him, citing a “lack of perspective” on the entire situation. Maher discussed the topic during a Real Time with Bill Maher segment, which opened with a picture of Mohamed’s clock in its carrying case. “And the people at the school thought it might be a bomb, perhaps because it looks exactly like a f—king bomb,” he said. Joining him were panelists Jorge Ramos, Chris Matthews, Mark Cuban, and former New York Gov. George Pataki, most of whom sided with Maher’s perspective. “Look, this kid deserves an apology — no doubt about it,” Maher continued. “They were wrong. But can we have a little perspective about this? Did the teacher really do a wrong thing?” Later on, he further defended the teacher for taking action. “It’s not the color of his skin. Excuse me, somebody look me in the eye right here and tell me. Over the last 30 years, if so many young Muslim men … and he’s young, 14, but that’s not like it’s never happened before, hasn’t blown a lot of s—t up around the world. And this guy, this kid deserves an apology, because he wasn’t one of them… For the last 30 years, it’s been one culture that has been been blowing s—t up over and over again.”
What a bitch
Maher is an irish name. At one time they were known as "one culture that has been been blowing s—t up over and over again"
He's not really saying it in a nice way but I can kind of get behind what he's saying. I mean the clock does look a lot like a bomb if you don't really know what you're looking at. And the US media fear mongering the shit out of bomb threats and people running for president claiming that Islam is a dangerous religion doesn't really help.

But remember, the bomb squad was never called in. The school was never evacuated. The clock was just thrown in the back of a car, and a kid who posed no threat to anybody was arrested and treated like shit.
Can't say I disagree with him

Better for people to rally behind something to fix it then nothing.
This case is getting blown out of proportions, the kid literally only disassembled an old clock and put it in a weird briefcase, why do we have to care so much about it, specially big corporations trying to bank over his spotlight
He modded in his own power supply (batteries) so that it could run without being hooked to an outlet. But yes, he didn't literally create the clock himself. He even said that it only took him 20 minutes to "make" it.
elaborate; please tell me how the arrest of a 14 year old muslim boy for making a clock is justified
The fact it looks similar to brief case bombs, the fact bombing and bomb scares are at an all time high, the fact the teacher he first showed it to told him to not show it at all because it wouldnt be a good idea(yes it beeped by itself apparently) the fact school/public massacres are also happening a shitload these days in the USA. While the situation was handled poorly by the school and I think the school is at most fault here in the long run, if you REALLY cant see why its hard to defend the kids straight up then I dont know. I bet you this same shit would have happened even if the kid was white and pure catholic, I mean we cant forget about the poptart gun or fresh prince of bel-air ring tone shit. Hes 14, not an idiot and not a little child really. Him being cuffed and shit was too much, but hard to feel sorry for him, especially at this point considering all the publicity and free shit hes gotten.
elaborate; please tell me how the arrest of a 14 year old muslim boy for making a clock is justified
When something looks like a weapon, the school has to react. I was detained for havin an army knife in my backpack when I was in fifth grade. Anything that looks like a threat has to be inspected and the person involved investigated. Officials thought this clock was a bomb, or a hoax bomb. So the person involved was detained and the situation was dealt with. For the Muslim part, he is also right when he said Islamic extremism has been a serious issue for 30 years. Some old teacher may of seen whats been going on on the tv and was afraid. Doesn't make it right, but it doesnt make the teachers the kkk like the media saying they are
Why would they think it was a hoax bomb if he told them it was a clock?
I told my teachers my knife was for boy scouts, they don't listen to students at all. I hate it too, but they really dont listen
I told my teachers my knife was for boy scouts, they don't listen to students at all. I hate it too, but they really dont listen
It's still a knife which isn't allowed. Completely different situation.
It's still a knife which isn't allowed. Completely different situation.
im pretty sure bombs aren't allowed either, therefore anything a student says is disregarded if they actually believe its something harmful
im pretty sure bombs aren't allowed either, therefore anything a student says is disregarded if they actually believe its something harmful
But it wasn't a bomb? Your's was clearly a knife.
im pretty sure bombs aren't allowed either, therefore anything a student says is disregarded if they actually believe its something harmful
There are rules disallowing knives in schools under any circumstances. Regardless of what you say the knife is or is for. The clock is a clock and he said it was a clock. There is a pretty stark difference in scenarios.
im pretty sure bombs aren't allowed either, therefore anything a student says is disregarded if they actually believe its something harmful
Alright, well. Why would they think it's a hoax bomb if he never told them it was a bomb, only a clock? Is a hoax bomb not someone trying to give the impression it is a bomb? Which is something this kid did not do at all. At no point did they think it was a real bomb, otherwise there would have been an immediate evacuation.
im pretty sure bombs aren't allowed either, therefore anything a student says is disregarded if they actually believe its something harmful
A clock is a clock. A knife is a knife. Your brain is a vacuum.
im pretty sure bombs aren't allowed either, therefore anything a student says is disregarded if they actually believe its something harmful
Hey guys brought in this gun for show and tell FUCKING FASCISTS I TOLD YOU IT WAS FOR HUNTING , THEY NEVER LISTEN.

Even Dawkins is getting in on this, saying that the boy just mimicked the clock and that he wonders if Ahmed "wanted to be arrested". What a fucking dolt
let's see what he said in full
I don't like where he advocates racial profiling at the end of that by listing terror attacks in the West that were perpetrated by Muslims, given that in the US, a minority of attackers were Muslim and there are terrorist groups that have done far more damage incredibly recently, certainly here in the UK, given that he mentions the London bombings There is a lot of stuff he says in this that I do agree with, compared to the mainstream narrative from this. It did look like a bomb, and I wouldn't be surprised if the kid made a joke pretend bomb for a laugh and it all spiralled way out of hand, but it was totally wrong for him to be arrested. And that guy who spoke about how everyone is getting really passionate one way or the other about this kid even though they weren't there and have little idea what really happened. And then the double standard of caring about this kid, when there's people who are in far worse situations but that don't enter into the public consciousness here in the same way was a decent point, although there's far less we can do about someone in the middle east being executed by his government than we can about racial profiling in the US. I still think Maher is a nob and an Islamophobe though.
I told my teachers my knife was for boy scouts, they don't listen to students at all. I hate it too, but they really dont listen
Uh, they tell you not to bring your scouting knife to school even when you're just a cub scout. I'm pretty sure it's even in the handbook.
The school was being racist and profiled the student based on his skin color and religion. Maher on the other hand, is confirming my suspicions. I'm pretty sure he's (Maher) a Zionist disguised as an Atheist.
Hey guys brought in this bomb for show and tell FUCKING FASCISTS I TOLD YOU IT WAS FOR SELF DEFENCE, THEY NEVER LISTEN.
a bomb's a bad choice for close range combat
This case is getting blown out of proportions, the kid literally only disassembled an old clock and put it in a weird briefcase, why do we have to care so much about it, specially big corporations trying to bank over his spotlight
People don't care about the clock all that much (everyone knows it took him 20 minutes to make), people focus on the clock when they want to ignore the incompetence and prejudice involved with the school and the police.
Even Dawkins is getting in on this, saying that the boy just mimicked the clock and that he wonders if Ahmed "wanted to be arrested". What a fucking dolt
lol he didn't mimick anything, he gutted a vintage alarm clock and put it in a briefcase https://archive.is/19Wde
