From Andrew, James and Laura
I’ve left AM!. No drama here. I reached a point where I need to focus on other things. Respect to Laura and James. The last 10 years ruled. -Andrew
It’s heartbreaking to know that Andrew won’t be standing next to me out on stage the next time I stand upon one.
I realize that at this point there’s a possibility that it may look pretty ridiculous to carry on playing under the name Against Me!
If I didn’t feel like I had something that I really needed to say with the album we’ve been working on for the past year then I’d humbly hang the hat and move on.
Andrew’s been a solid partner. Some of the best sleep I’ve ever gotten has been in the back of a 15 passenger van with him behind the wheel. He’s got a steady hand and has always been someone I’ve trusted. The definition of a good friend. I wish him all the best in his journey. -LJ
This is a bummer, I had such high hopes after Laura came out as transgender but since then the drummer had left (not a big deal, they always had cycled drummers) but Andrew has been a core member since 2002. Still, Laura had always been the lyricist and she plans on continuing with or without the Against Me! name.
I thought Andrew was the bass player...?
I've never even heard of Against Me! until now.
Who the hell are Against Me?
An alt rock band, they used to be Acoustic Punk.
Sink, Florida, Sink is one of my favorite songs to cover when playing a show. I love the grungy power of Laura's voice in that song.

It is a shame that the bassist left the band though.

folk punk*
folk punk*
Eh just because they used acoustic instruments doesn't really make them folk punk.
Blackbird Raum, now that's a folk punk band.
Reinventing Axl Rose was a pretty damn good album though, the only one of theirs I actually liked.
their first album is the only one worth a shit
folk punk sux

If only I could agree and disagree with one post.
Go get Reinvent Axl Rose, if acoustic, winy, angsty rock music is your thing. One of the best albums I've ever listened to, but everything I've heard after that album by them just sucks.

You're right. I threw this together in a minute before heading out the door, I have corrected it now.
all of you saying Reinventing Axl Rose was their only good album are wrong, The Eternal Cowboy fuckin' owned. really don't like it when people start to dislike a band when they begin to step away from their punk sound. anyway, bummer. Andrew was a hell of a bass player.
Jacam I agree. I have found songs on every album that I enjoy, though Reinventing Axl Rose was a masterpiece. The acoustic EP was great too.
I don't know what any of this is but based on what is said in the thread it sounds like a band from a sitcom

He is. Well, was. The title is wrong.
