Those are my temperatures while playing left 4 dead 2. Are those bad? Im not sure what bad temps are but if you could let me know that would be great! Thanks

Those temps aren't bad at all, but I'd suggest you check with a different program such as HWMonitor if you have a reason to be worried about your temperatures ( http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html )

Use Furmark and Prime95 to stress your stuff if you want load temps.
Those temps are fine though, I have my 768MB 460 OC'd about 20-30% over stock and it hits about 78C whilst being fine.

O wow ok. What do you mean by use furmark and prime95? Sorry not familiar with that...

Ok thanks! Ill check it out!
Furmark and prime95 are both stress test programs (atleast prime95, i havent used Furmark)
Prime95 tests your CPU by putting it to 100% load If I remember correctly.

So its not bad doing that? Doing that to your CPU?
Anything below 60C is not bad at all. If something goes above 60C then you should check respective fan and clean or change it. If something goes to 80C then it's probably already broke.
Generally stuff can run at 70C with no problems but it's highly inadvisable to do so.

No, not as long as it remains within safe operating temperatures.

High temps will force a a shutdown before the hardware breaks. 70 degrees is no sweat at all and 80 degrees is still safe, at least as far as a GPU goes. When you reach the 90 you're running the risk of reducing the lifetime of your hardware but it still won't break down. The GTX 470 has a factory rated ceiling temp of 105. A CPU temp of 60 and a GPU temp of 80 is fine for pretty much any rig, but you'll naturally want to keep the temps as low as possible.

My Q6600 is fine with running at 100C. Chips are far more robust than people think when it comes to heat.

Can doesn't mean you should. Why run it at 100 when it can be lower. It's like revving my car to 3,000rpm while idling, it can, but why?
All I have to say is that the Core 2 Duo in my old laptop could hit 90+ degrees celsius on a regular basis and hit 98 degrees once. This happened because the laptop had terrible heat dissapation. Still running strong after 6 years now though, chips can handle much more than you'd expect.

Alright, I was wrong about the "80C = Broke" thing. I never had a hardware failure because of the temperature but as far as I know, 80C+ is the temperature you want to avoid.
I personally try to keep everything below 60 if possible.

Because I have a shit cooler is why.

Thanks Im Crimson, seems like you know what your talking about best. I know a little about temps I just wanted to confirm. So actually my temps are awesome... My GPU idles at 38 degrees C

Idle temps mean nothing really. My CPU idles at like 40C but under stress it jumps up miles.

Yes i know but i was just saying.
I average a tad higher than those temps, I'd say your doing pretty good.

I hit the shutdown temperature of 110*C during summer once. (its a workstation)
