A lot of EA in Sensationalist Headlines these days.
The Battlefield and FIFA franchises have been doing EA some good thus far into its 2013 fiscal year to say the least, as CEO John Riccitiello boasts that both series are the "two biggest revenue events" in the company's history and are "well on their way to becoming billion dollar annual franchises." Bolstering the strength of the EA Sports label was Madden NFL 13, which together with FIFA 13 made for September's top selling titles in the "western world."
For its second fiscal quarter ended september 30th, 2012, EA surpassed expectations and posted net revenue of $1.08 billion USD and a profit of $49 million USD, up year-on-year from the $17 million USD in net income it posted during the same period back in FY2012.
EA highlighted a 40 percent year-on-year growth in digital revenue which it attributed not only to its mobile games and services, but digital sales from console and PC titles as well like FIFA and Battlefield.
On the other hand, EA is tempering expectations for its fiscal third quarter results. The publisher has slightly lowered its revenue forecast for the three-month period covering the upcoming holiday season to somewhere between $1.25 billion to $1.35 billion USD, partially because of Medal of Honor: Warfighter underperforming at retail by EA's reckoning but also on account of the slowing market for boxed retail software in general.

with all that milking they might as well start up a cheese factory
What I'm gonna do this time is not falling for the hype. Will at least wait a month to see how the game turns out.
Pre-ordered BF3 and I didn't have fun with it for long.
billion dollar annual franchises.
No.
I thought Fifa already was a cash cow
Poor DICE.
So they are PROUD to tell that they are gonna milk the fuck out of battlefield?
Wow.
wow.
Team Fortress 2 was released in 2007. Free updates and such and their entire game is completely different from when it was first released.
But no, instead of doing free updates, they want our money. Well fuck off.
Need for Speed Most Wanted launches this week with great reviews. IGN and Game Informer awarded Need for Speed a 9 out of 10.
Why, this game looks fucking terrible by comparison to the original Most Wanted.
So they are PROUD to tell that they are gonna milk the fuck out of battlefield?
Wow.
Because a company who has stockholders and is at the mercy of them should totally tell their stockholders "Yeah we can make more money but we decided not to because a minority of gamers hate when we do so"
Battlefield 3 was such a dissapointment.
Battlefield 3 was such a dissapointment.
yeah I was hoping for something more along the lines of BF:BC2
Rest in peace, battlefield. :suicide:

yeh it's worse
And all they had to do was screw over most of their players.
yeh it's worse
Nah, it's not. At least you can't complain about content.
oh no a company is earning money ohhhh nnnnoooo
I don't see the majority complaining about it, in fact I don't see anyone outside reddit/v/fp circlejerks complaining about it
If people didn't like them releasing DLC and barely modified games they would stop that and it wouldn't be a viable business strategy
Most of the consolle users buy the latest PES/FIFA and Battlefield every year no matter what, and few other titles. It's no suprise they make a whole lot of money out of it. Those two titles and maybe The Sims are the only reason EA is still afloat after all these years.

because people dont want to buy a slightly modified game each year for 60 dollars excluding dlc

your (and most people who play tf2's) opinion is that tf2 is getting new and fresh content
my opinion is that they're ruining and complicating the original gameplay by adding weapons with slightly modified stats and models taken from other parties (the workshop), the ones that are actually new and fun to play with taking loads of grinding to get, and adding hats and new levels of "quality and rarity" to items so that the already terrible economy gets even worse
Battlefield 3 was such a dissapointment.
Personally I think it was an amazing title. But there are plenty of signs they're going the wrong way. The Origin exclusivity, the complete lockdown and removal of modding, those are the things I dislike. Battlelog turned out to be pretty neat and useful, Premium was a good deal for the content provided (just compare it to the expansions for previous BF titles and what you got for those).
It's sad that Battlefield can't be the grand title it is now without publisher money.
because people dont want to buy a slightly modified game each year for 60 dollars excluding dlc
I think it's pretty obvious that they do
because you know
they do

$$$
yeah I was hoping for something more along the lines of BF:BC2
what? i prefer BF3 over BC2 by a long shot
[editline]31st October 2012[/editline]
because not only jets
Why is making every franchise an annual release a big thing now? I won't deny I've had some fun with games like CoD, but the games that really left an impression on me were the ones with 3+ years of development time and a focus on something besides arcade-style "modern" gunplay.

All I need is a vanilla game mode. That is literally all that needs to be done to get like every single TF player that has given up on it back.
yeah I was hoping for something more along the lines of BF:BC2
i was hoping for something that felt like the original battlefield games
oh no a company is earning money
oh no a company is shitting all over game quality by cutting development time down and adding more platforms to develop for within that time.
"We're trying to be different from CoD"
I enjoy BF3 more than Bad Company 2 I don't know why I just do.
