• ATi Radeon HD4850 - Over heating issues

So yeah, I have an ATi Radeon HD4850 which I know is notorious for overheating issues. But there isn't any excuse for it to be running around 90c when the fan is at 90%. Trying to play Champions online.. but that is un excusable. I believe I've had this card for over 2 years, but I'm not quite sure. If my warranty is up, what else can I do besides buy a new VGA fan or buy a new one.
You could do a watercooling setup and put a block on it.

Underclock it. Remove dust in/on the card.

depends on the manufacturer of your card. Most have really small screws that can be removed with an eyeglass screwdriver or something slightly larger. Once you get the plastic case off, use a can of compressed air to blow out any dust. Just don't use a vacuum. Dust is most likely your culprit in your situation.
-picture
Nice "Torrents" folder you have there.
Nice "Torrents" folder you have there.
What's wrong with having linux on your other computers now?
Nice "Torrents" folder you have there.
So? This was in no way relevant to the question.
Nice "Torrents" folder you have there.
It's not my picture :downs:
I suppose your 4850 is a Single slot and not the dual slot ones?
I suppose your 4850 is a Single slot and not the dual slot ones?
Most likely. The overheating issues does not occur on the dual slot ones, due to larger heatsinks.
Correct ^ So I was going to say, buy an after-market cooler for it and stick it on. Dual slot one of course.
Buy an additional in-tower fan. Or get a real fan and just stick it next to your computer.
