My brothers graphics card and his PSU have both died in the same week, kind of strange but shit happens.
I'm going to order a new PSU for him as well as a graphics card but I need help with the graphics card. He currently only plays World of Warcraft and Heroes of Neworth and I need to find a graphics card that will be able to play both on probably the highest settings. I know my ATI 5770 can put up with them both easily so I was thinking of going for one however if people have any cheaper/better options please let me know. :-)
Post full specs. And the GPU probably died because the PSU did, so invest in a good one.
I didn't realise it was this bad:
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400
RAM: 2.0GB
Motherboard: ASUS A8R32-MVP Deluxe (Limits the on-board memory of the graphics card to 512mb)
I don't know how that will do in wither of those games, but I doubt it'll be on highest. A 5770 would be bottlenecked, try pick up a 4830 on ebay, and an Antec Basiq.
Ok so I just spoke to him about it and I said he could buy my spare PC off me so it wouldn't bottleneck:
Mobo: Asus M4N68T-M V2 GeForce 7025/630a Socket AM3 VGA Out 8 Channel Audio MATX Motherboard
CPU: AMD Athlon II X4 640 Socket AM3 3GHz 2MB L2 Cache Retail Boxed Processor
RAM: Corsair 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 1333MHz Memory Kit Unbuffered CL9
He's agreed but we still need a graphics card :-)
You should post your budget too, but with those specs, I would go for something like a 6870.
Budget is around £100, just noticed the 5770s are around that price tag now, good choice?
What's your PSU?
And why is there 7 people reading this?
Corsair 430W CX PSU 4x SATA 1x PCI-E
Okay, a 5770 will be good, then. Try see if you can find a cheap GTX 460, though.
Okay, thanks for your help mate.
No problem.
