UPDATE: Added follow-up pictures on Page 4.
Today I was supposed to go see an Aerosmith concert about an hour and a half away from where I live. We've tried seeing them two times before, but both times the tour would be canceled once it reached Michigan.
After driving for an hour and some minutes, we were finally almost to the Palace Arena which is where Aerosmith would be playing for the night. The concert was scheduled to being at around 7:30. It was about 7:00 and we could literally see the Palace on the horizon. We were both eager and filled with excitement to finally be able to see one of our favorite bands live.
I'm 18 years old. I was sitting in the passenger seat, and we were both wearing seat belts. There was moderately heavy traffic throughout the whole area, which was making us a little nervous we'd be there on time.
My family member who was driving looked down for a second to read the Google Maps directions. When she looked back up, the white car that was in-front of us came to a sudden stop. We swerved to the right and went into the dirt ditch on the side. Our car kept going straight for a little bit, but eventually started turning to the left. Then suddenly the car flipped, and we began rolling. I'm still unsure how it started to flipped, must have been something to do with the momentum and speed we were going (We were going the speed limit).
I stayed conscious during the whole crash, including the flips. I'm still unsure of exactly how many roll-overs we achieved, but I'm fairly certain it was at least 2-3. Once we stopped moving, I looked over and made sure we were both okay. I then looked to my right to see people running over to us making sure we were okay.
The only thing that I could produce out of my mouth was "Holy shit" and "Oh my god". I took out my iPhone and began just taking pictures of things, making sure I had photo evidence (Just in case for car insurance or whatever). When the car flipped, everything inside it shot out the windows and went everywhere. Eventually a paramedic team arrive and had giant robot scissors break open my door so that I could get out. I then got onto an ambulance and got all checked out, then got transported to the hospital where they did further inspections (including x-rays). I ended up with only a few scrapes, scratches and bruises.
One of the scariest feelings I've ever had is being in a car, that's started going sideways, and thinking to your self "Please god, don't flip...don't flip" and you feel the force of the impact of the ground lift you up. The taste of the floating dust, dirt is everywhere inside the car. Everything happened so quick that it honestly did not feel real. I felt as if what had just happened I was imaging, and for a brief moment I was expecting everything to go back to normal.

Right after we stopped flipping and came to a stop.

Paramedics finally arrive. Notice the car phone charger that went through the windshield.

That is our car seat. There were NO children in the car with us. Notice everything that flew out of the car.

They put a neck brace and stuff on me, this is what I had to stare at on the way to the hospital.

X-ray machine, the women operating it asked if I was a swimmer, I said "No", she then said I had "huge lungs".

I'm okay! A little shaken up and some cuts and scrapes, but I was good enough to walk out of the hospital.
The airbags didn't go off?
Also, I was in a similar car crash last summer, except I was in the front seat, and another car directly hit where I was sitting while speeding. To be honest, I'm still traumatized by that experience ever since, and is still afraid to ride cars.
That was probably one of the worst accidents I have seen, the radiator landed 25 meters away from the crash site.
did you die?
You look like a junkie in the last picture.
Quickly!
To Facepunch!
Anyway, it's good that you're ok.
Now I'll read the OP. :v:
Damn, son. Good to see you're okay.

Airbags hurt like a fucking bitch. Broke my nose one time.

That's why you wear seat beats and don't lean excessively close to the airbag while driving?
It's actually pretty interesting to see a photo journal of things like this

The airbags did not go off. We didn't collide with anything from the front. I was sitting in the front passenger seat.
My tiger avatar brother got hurt!
Did you post all of this from an iPhone???
No, I took the pictures from the iphone. I was released from the hospital, and now I'm at home typing all of this from a computer.
I'm glad you didn't die or get too badly hurt :)

Still, cars would usually have impact sensors on the side as well, and would definitely go off if it flipped
You ever kick your bike's back tire out while holding the brake in some grass? And it's all fun and games until your tires catch? That's what happened to you. You said you didn't understand how you flipped. Basically as you we going fast once you fishtailed your vehicle is going one way, while your tires are meant to go straight. Once you slow down a bit, and your angle becomes too far off center from the direction you're moving, a combination of your tires gripping the ground (because they are pointed close to perpendicular to your momentum's direction now.) and your center of gravity quickly shifts over as they dig into the ground and it flings you over. Think of sliding on ice, and your feet catch a spot where they'res no ice. Your top goes faster then your bottom and you go flying.
Glad you're ok though honestly. It must be sorta cool to say you've made it.. and have that experience as long as it doesn't scar you. I say that because the last thing you said before the pictures interests me.. because I love how the mind and body work in situations like this.
You must've hit your head. The thread name has crappy grammar.

Hurr Hurr :downs:
So they let you hold on to a camera the whole time?

Fuck off, he could have died.

If a car is not equipped with side airbags, there are no lateral sensors.
OP, you are clearly destined to not see Aerosmith.
Yeah shit sucks. I got hit on my bike last week and fractured my knee. I have surgery on friday.
Normally, I'd say something like this isn't blogpunch, but you had something very interesting to tell (and show) us with pictures.
Terribly sorry that you had to be in such an accident, but think of it this way: The chance of you getting in another accident again in your life is extremely low. You might as well have a better chance of winning the lottery. Drive safely, and best of luck.
Good to hear you're okay.
:patriot:

yeah well so could I but I don't ask for sympathy from any of you plebeians.

This is the kind of thinking that makes people load their dice.

He got in a car accident. He's not necessarily asking for sympathy either, but just sharing an interesting story. All you're doing is being an ass.
Did the doctors say anything about your thumbs? :rimshot:
Anyways nice to see a Ford saving another life!
Henry Ford would be proud.
Also the Ford Bronco is my Fav Ford Line, so the Expedition is the lil-bro of the Bronco.
