• How my best friend actually got raped and wasn't just saying it for attention

This story is pretty depressing for me to tell, but I thought it'd be best to share it with someone, and facepunch is the best release. A year or so ago, I went out with this girl. Adruptly, she broke up with me and stopped talking to me. Her name was Becca. This was a bit of a bummer but I got over it. Fast forward to a few months back, and she opens up a chat on facebook. we start talking and she reveals that her true motive was to explain to me why she broke up with me. So I listened. She gave me a bare basic story of what happened. She got raped, apartenly, while we were going out and couldn't 'cope with it'. Her being 14 at the time, I didnt believe it, I thought it was just an act for attention and I simply dismissed it, I said some stock "Thats horrible" and such, but still didn't believe her. She made up some bullshit sounding excuses for why she didnt tell anyone, notify the police or such, and she kept saying she couldnt tell me who the guy was. So of course, I thought she was making up TOTAL bullshit, maybe to cover up for how heartless she was, and the conversation ended. we no longer spoke. Numerous drama llamas in school ended up resulting in our two friend groups hating eachother, and as a result, even though we didn't speak to eachother, was that we hated eachother too. Then, a few months later she suddenly says she wants to become friends again. I accept, and we hit it off hugely. We start talking about all the old times and we share alot, she matured greatly and it was all good and well. We became incredibly close, pretty much as close as two people can be before going into a relationship. After a few months I begun to fancy her, and just as I was persuing that, I remembered how she told me about the 'rape'. I questioned her about it one night, asking if it actually happened. She got defensive, and then told me much more. She told me how around the time I asked her out, she was being asked out by another guy. When she said yes to me, he got jealous, and raped her. Apartenly she chose not to tell anyone because she was afraid of her parents finding out her "innocence was lost". I still didn't believe her. She went on to tell me how as time went on, she neglected to tell people and he repeated it. He would beat her and cut her in areas that would be covered by clothing normally, and asked his friends to help keep her quiet. In the end I found out that his friends also got invovled. This was when she finally told me the infamous man behind it all. His name was Aiden. This is where the story got a bit complicated for me, as I had never heard of a guy named Aiden. Apartenly Aiden knew all about me, though, and got insanely jealous. After raping her, Aiden would explain to her that "I would just want to do the same thing", causing her to break up with me. This whole thing seemed TOO surreal though. I still refused to believe it, althought I didnt tell her that. One day when we were hanging out, she pulled me aside to show me something. Massive scars, bruises all across her stomach, back, chest, ext ext. Its then I realised she wasn't bullshitting. I decided to get serious about it, I felt like an ass ignoring it before, always telling myself "That stuff doesn't happen here, and most certainly not to people like her", but it had. I sat down and told her, we NEEDED to get help. Apartenly, she did before. She contacted a youth centre, who denied her help because of lack of proof. This led Aiden to get angry, and she suffered the consquences. So now, she's completely terrified to tell anyone, incase her parents find out, incase Aidens friends find out and track her down, ext ext. Since then we've contuined to talk. Since we've been talking I've learnt about some of the stuff they do. Five of them will find her, not sure how, but they find her and force her to get into a car with them. They drive her out to no where...and just do it. Since she's told me this I've advised her on how to avoid them and it hasn't happened for awhile, but I dont know what to do. I'm looking at a 15 year old girl, that has been gangraped. Multiple times, for a year now. The result of the trauma has ended up with her not eating, not sleeping and not socialising properly. She'lll never have a proper teenage relationship because of this, never truly have fun without thinking back to those events. and the worst part is, even if she told someone, no one will believe her. It took me months to finally accept that what she was telling me was real and that she wasn't doing it to get sympathy off me. I don't know what to do. Currently, this is my best friend who's living through a life of hell, barely avoiding a full on rape each day and she actually feels like she CAN'T tell anyone without it ending badly for her. I've explained multiple solutions that don't even involve her parents or anyone else finding out about it, but she won't do it in fear of it happening again. Discuss.

alert the police
That's really fucking sad. Sometimes I wish all those rapists would teleport to jail. v:v:v
I think this is a good lesson for people who go around thinking 'That will never happen to me'
I have a friend who says she has been raped, but shes such a drama queen I'm never sure, she doesnt seem emotionally effected by it and is normal, but then again the same as you, I hadn't spoken to her for a long time (roughly 2 years) before meeting back up again.
Wow, that's horrible
Wow, that's hot.
That's just... Messed up...
If I got raped I wouldn't tell anyone either :(
Just go to the police if she still has some scars/bruises left, there's bound the be some sort of, what they call here "stay off my body houses" or something. Even if she doesn't have any, the police will have to take her story serious, there's just more of a chance of her getting in protective housing if she has proof of him/his friends harming her beyond raping her (yeah I know), because that would make it too dangerous for her to stay home with her parents. [editline]29th May 2011[/editline]
She was raped, I'm pretty sure her parents would listen to her. I mean why would I hate my own daughter if she was raped?
Because she is no longer a virgin, infact, in some country's, if you get raped, you get death penalty for being unfaithful.
Call the police. [editline]29th May 2011[/editline] (Don't make a thread about it; just call the damn police. There's checks they can do on girls vaginas that is good enough proof of rape.)
Fuck man, I feel for you and her. :/ You do have an opportunity to get very close to her here, to set her on a good course, even be her man if you so wish. Good luck! (And yes do indeed tell her to go with you to the police)
She's afraid of her parents reaction, if she calls the police her parents will know right away.
That's no reason not to call the police. He should ignore the fact she's afraid and just do what's right.
That's no reason not to call the police. He should ignore the fact she's afraid and just do what's right.
No I mean they should just go to a police station, not call them. But yeah, if she's too afraid he should just call it in himself then.
Tell the police for sure
Go tell police I know you really care about it but think about this like, as it will be five years down the track. Lets see the options: 1. You tell noone - she bottles it up and doesn't recover or cope or deal with it and things get fucked up majorly for her. 2. You tell police or anyone, parents get notified, everyone's really supportive, she gets help, Aiden gets fucked up like he deserves, it takes a while but she recovers to the best extent that she is able. 3. You tell police or parents, they don't believe it, she hates, you get upset, life goes on. 4. You tell police or parents, they don't believe it, she admits she's lying, yeah, what a bitch. 5. You tell police or parents, they hate her for being raped by some douchebag which would only happen if they were totally loony in which case she's got serious problems apart from being raped. 5 is the only one where you would actually regret telling someone and in that it lies to your own judgement about how loony everyone is
5 won't happen in any decent country. New Zealand is a decent country; at least it was last time I looked. [editline].[/editline] Is it me or did OP's nationality flag disappear - it was new zealand earlier.
Call the police you idiot. [editline]29th May 2011[/editline]
She's afraid of her parents reaction, if she calls the police her parents will know right away.
Who the fuck cares what her parents thing? Call the police.

Pics or it didn't happen :colbert: (User was banned for this post ("Shitpost" - Starpluck)) Jesus dick that was a joke :v:
I really wish I could tell the police, and my sensible state would instanly do that responce, but I feel I can't. Her parents see her as perfectly innocent, if they discovered about this she would have an even worse life at home. I forgot to mention that her home life isn't the best. She isn't abused or anything there, but her family is slightly neglectful and she's admitted to receiving some sexual abuse from her fathers drunk friends at some point. It would really mess up home life. Not to mention, I feel that Aiden would make sure she'd get hurt pretty bad if anything were to happen to him. Don't get me wrong, I'm going to get her help and make sure Aiden gets what he deservers, but I feel in our current state, we can't.

You must act. You will be the Hero of Facepunch 2011 if you get a hold of yourself and inform authorities.

I'm not familiar with the legal system, but I feel that if I tell the police, she will get hurt in some way or another.
