France has said conditions are "not right" for delivery of the first of two Mistral navy assault ships to Russia.
President Francois Hollande's office blamed Moscow's recent actions in Ukraine.
France had until now resisted pressure to halt the delivery.
Correspondents say the EU has struggled to tighten sanctions against Russia, restricting itself to travel bans and asset freezes against individuals. New sanctions are expected within days.
The Vladivostok, the first of the two helicopter carriers, was expected to have been delivered to Russia by late October.
Finally
Vive la France. At least they're doing something to spit in Czar Putin's face.
Let's hope more people take the stand and slap the old spy-thug down.
Wasn't the seizing of Crimea a good enough of a reason already?
Why does it have to be recent actions...
I was wondering how long it was going to take for this to happen.

Because they didn't want to but were being pressured by others to do so.
Here's hoping Russia sues them for this.
This is probably going to damage France's reputation with future potential business partners.
What about the thousands of Russians we are currently training on those same ships that are currently hosted near St.Nazaire ( where the ships are being constructed ) ? " Hey guys it's being four months we're training you but whatever school's over go back to your country and we keep the boats bye "
The French are probably my favourite europeans. They always seem to have the necessary balls to do things, whether that is mass protesting against bad government decisions, sending military to kick ass in africa, or spit in putin's face.

And if they do sue them for it, that just means that France hit them where it hurt and they didn't like it very much. Anything they do at this point will just be digging themselves deeper.

Especially the way they so ferociously wave a white flag.
Seriously; if France doesn't deliver at least the first ship (which Russia has paid for already) they do have good grounds to sue the French Government.

And if they do, they're just going to look like even more gigantic tools than they already ended up as. They'll have to bite the bullet on this one for the sake of political expediency at the very least.

If their future business partners are corrupt and crazed presidents then maybe

The Free French movement would beg to disagree with you on that count.

If France shows that it's willing to go back on deals after the other side has already kept up their end of the transaction that will hurt their ability to make similar deals with other countries.
Do you think China will risk money doing business with the French if they know it could all be pissed away at a moment's notice for purely political reasons?
Lol, if they decide to entirely back out of the already signed contract they're going to have to pay a fee larger than what both warships are worth, combined. Not to mention the amount of money they would have to pay should Russia decide to sue on top of that.
This is only hurting France. Because fuck feeding poor French people with that money, what matters is making some hollow political statement that ends up doing absolutely nothing to Russia.

The fact that people are actually cheering this on is hilarious too.
Preventing strengthening an hostile country sure will hurt France

Correct, but it wouldn't be the first time such deals have been canceled for political reasons, and it won't be the last. For instance look at the UK partially suspending arms exports to Israel after the latest string of battles in the Gaza strip.

To be honest think how silly would it look if NATO ended up having to fight against the ships their member built for Russia.
Since Ukraine is apparently part of Russia, maybe they should deliver the new warships to Ukraine.

It's hilarious that you think France can't deal with their poor without money from this one deal. It's hilarious that you are delusional enough to believe that the money of this deal would go to the poor.
Finally

That still doesn't negate the fact that this only hurts France.
And you have no idea how economy and trade works if you think none of the money that will be made in this deal will ever see productive use. These ships don't cost 20 bucks.
All of this is beside the main point anyway. Both France and Russia have already signed the trade agreement. Russia ALREADY payed for one of the ships. It's illegal to back out of this agreement without paying a shitload of compensation.
Also "hostile nation", lol. You guys are literally treating Russia as if it's some Nazi Germany and North Korea hybrid state, just because they illegally annexed some tiny piece of land in the midst of a civil war that technically always belonged to them and happened to be given away on a drunken whim a couple of decades ago.
How long are you guys planning on blowing shit out of proportion? Get some perspective, lol.

I think you need to rethink what you posted. Especially the bit about a drunken whim.

Hey guess what, not delivering warships to a nation currently helping to invade another sovereign state is probably a bit more important than little Pierre's baguette for lunch.
Highly refute your claim that it'd go to "feeding poor French people" anyway. It'll go through the defence company that built the bloody thing.

The way you jump from "hostile" to comparisons with Nazis and NK already shows that argueing with you is of no use.

maybe future potential buisness partners won't declair war on countries that are somewhat part of NATO and expect a full NATO partner to deliver warships to them
Let's see if they give them after the thing is over
