The Republicans have won control of the Senate in the US mid-term elections, increasing their power in the final two years of Barack Obama's presidency.
The party won in Arkansas, Colorado, Iowa, Montana, North Carolina, South Dakota and West Virginia.
And it is expected to post more gains as votes are counted in other states.
Republican Senator Mitch McConnell, poised to lead the chamber, said the result was a vote against "a government that people can no longer trust".
In the mid-terms, so-called because they fell half way into Mr Obama's second four-year term in office, about one-third of the Senate, the entire House of Representatives, 36 of 50 state governors, and countless state and local offices were up for election.
Throughout the campaign, Republicans focused on voter dissatisfaction with Mr Obama, a Democrat, describing the vote as a referendum on his presidency.
As the first results came in late on Tuesday, it became clear they had made convincing gains in the chamber.
So Obama is useless now?
So Obama is useless now?
No, executive orders are still available to him. Congress was useless before as it was anyhow. The stalemate continues.
Uh, any of the americans that voted for the republicans remember last year when the government shut down for no reason, right? And they still voted for them?

If you're democrat you'll blame republican
If you're republican you'll blame democrat
Red or blue, its the same color when they pull it out of your ass.
So they won both their congress and their senate. Most Americans must support their policy yes?
Sigh
So nothing's changed. Glad I didn't waste any gas driving to a polling booth.
Two more years of inaction confirmed
me too, obama
me too...

Avatar fits your post nicely. Following the political bias back and forth.
I think republicans are not neccisarily bad, but I hope to god our government doesnt try what they have tried before to "fix" the economy

More taxes for the poor and more money spending for the US military!
Everyone wins! /s
I am just happy that Georgia won't need a runoff. Too many adverts and robo calls. Not a big fan of Perdue, but he helped unseat Reid from the majority leader's seat, so that's a plus.
I honestly don't get republicans idea of trickle down economics
The last time they tried it, Hoover was president
Ask him how that went

I think most American's vote for them without actually knowing what they are voting for.
PA elected Tom Wolf as Governor, I'm excited for that. Teachers are especially, seeing as Corbett cut $1bil in education.
I think most vote because they feel a need too. Saying things like "I'm not gonna vote!" or "Voting isn't going to change a thing!" is like saying "God doesn't exist!" in a church, in front of the preacher...
I honestly don't think it makes a difference who wins.
We're pretty much fucked no matter which party is in the office

Poverty draft for all
Looks like Obama may well go the last 2 years on executive orders almost alone if he doesn't want to look any more like a lame-duck.
NY Wise we had a low turnout for certain elections. People were specifically voting for Governer or other seats and leaving alot of blanks.
Democrats came out strong for certain candidates but really lacked for other offices.

Damnit western NC. Only my county and the Indian reserve voted Democrat.
I don't think it really matters which side wins, we have the big companies all over politics anyway, all democrats would do would be delaying the inevitable. Prepare for a even faster decay of the nation.
Why is everyone saying we're fucked?
Things have been going pretty well recently you pessimistic buttbabies

The last bill passed by congress was around March.

Republicans are going to make Obama veto some shitty bills and then come election, they're going to run on the 'Democrats obstructed congress and we got nothing done because of them! They even veto'd the Puppy and Kitten Protection Act!' platform, and the people and media will eat it up.
No, executive orders are still available to him.
Which is a big part of why the Republicans just won, because a lot of people don't like when the President uses executive orders to enact policy and cirumvent the legislative branch of government. The public perception of Obama right now is an ineffectual autocrat, so it's no surprise that the Republicans could cruise in on a promise to stand up to him.

Given that most Americans also supported the liberal policy of marijuana legalization I'd surmise the electorate is a bunch of brainless morons by supporting the democrat message while voting republican
Stupid 2 party system allowing these lunatics to form a majority.
