• Windows Remote Desktop Connection automatically terminated

So I'm trying to setup a remote desktop connection to my desktop system but something is getting in the way. You enter in the system name, remote desktop starts to connect but before it hits the login prompt I get the following error window:
Your remote desktop session has ended, possibly due to one of the following reasons: The administrator has ended the session An error occured while the connection was being established A network problem occured
It's a pretty vague error as it pretty much tells me that anything could be happening. As a test I setup another remote desktop connection between my toughbook which uses a regular login and my thinkpad which uses a biometric login application (BioLogon 3 SP7) that is also installed on my desktop. I was able to connect from the thinkpad to the toughbook with no problems and from the toughbook to the thinkpad (and it seems the biometric login is disabled for remote sessions as it gave me the regular login window). I was also able to connect from my desktop to both the thinkpad and the toughbook AND my server. I just could not connect to the desktop. I disabled the biometric login support and rebooted and again, no dice. I'm slightly confused here as to what might interfere with the connection.
I've had very bad luck with my remote desktop too, almost the exact situation you're describing. This may not be helpful, but personally I gave up and switched to Teamviewer.
You could use UltraVNC to provide remote access functionality. I use it to monitor my family on the network, and take control of the mouse to piss them off.
